    Name for Black Molly

Nice idea, naming her something to remind her of your dad. You could call her "Six" (for the 6th anniversary). Plus, it sounds kind of James Bond-y which sort of fits with the guns / ballistic expert thing.

Can i take all the fish out?

I don't see why not. I did just that when a did a re-haul on my landscaping.

    Cloudy water and alge!!

I don't know, I wouldn't count out a UV sterilizer outright. My tank has been crystal clear since, and once set up requires no intervention on my part. Not saying that hydro perox or another method doesn't work, or work as well... just saying that just because it is not *your* solution, that...

    Walmart chiclids

I would totally agree. I have a pair of dwarfs (apistos) in a 17 gallon and I find that it is on the borderline of being too small. It's not about the bioload, it's about the aggression. These guys need a LOT of room. I think if I had them in anything smaller, one of them would be dead by now.

Can I keep 'em ALL? PLEASE?

:D Yikes, you are probably right. Especially if they are anything like the parents (babies born 3 weeks ago and I caught them doing their little dance o' Love AGAIN yesterday).

Can I keep 'em ALL? PLEASE?

A bunch o' babies swimming around in my tank. Apistogramma baenschi "inka" babies, to be exact, 20-ish. Wondering what I'll do with them when they're all grown up... And I'm thinking that it would be really cool to get a great big tank and keep 'em ALL. :brows: But I am guessing that would...

    Cloudy water and alge!!

I had the same problem as you, only I was ready to throw my tank off a bridge out of frustration. I tried everything, including larger water changes (which, btw, only seemed to make matters worse). Bought a UV sterilizer, and problem solved within a day or so. I highly recommend.

9 or 10 day old fry don't seem too interested in eating what I give them

My tank is about 26°. And they are definitely growing --- they've just about doubled in size in a week, and are extremely active. Yeah, this is kind of what I am wondering. The bbs are tiny, but then again so are the fry. They tend to congregate on my driftwood, it's almost like they are...

9 or 10 day old fry don't seem too interested in eating what I give them

Will crushed flakes sink? I can't see that working if they float at the top. Or maybe I could try crushing the sinking pellets that I feed the parents? I actually don't even have any flakes, so I might have to try the crushed pellets first (if that is not a totally crazy idea) As for...

9 or 10 day old fry don't seem too interested in eating what I give them

No, but I did try Infusyl and that didn't work either.

9 or 10 day old fry don't seem too interested in eating what I give them

Tiny baby apistos born 9 or 10 days ago, healthy and active and have pretty much doubled in size since birth. I have been trying to feed them baby brine shrimp, as instructed by the dude in my LFS (who himself breeds apistos so I trust what he is telling me), but they don't seem interested AT...

Or...get timers for the lights. Cheap easy solution.

Oh my -- BABY APISTOS IN MY TANK! Need a game plan...

Thanks again. I am going to check out liquid food, that sounds like it would be pretty easy to do -- great suggestion, I didn't even know that sort of thing existed! Once they get big enough, I will try to get some photos of the little guys to share. Everyone is doing their "camera shy"...

Oh my -- BABY APISTOS IN MY TANK! Need a game plan...

Thanks very much! :) I have decided not to remove the parents either. The female is taking her mom job quite seriously and I can only guess that it would stress her out if I removed them. The male sort of doesn't seem to pay them any attention, but mom keeps him away in any case. I seriously...

Oh my -- BABY APISTOS IN MY TANK! Need a game plan...

They are so tiny it is impossible for me to tell! They are really microscopic. Are the orange bellies obvious? Because I can't seem to make anything out on those teeny tiny critters. I do see big old eyeballs, though (not that that helps or anything...)

How to convince my dad to let me get a tank at his house??

You could go at it from the science / educational angle. Talk to him about what you have learned about water chemistry, nitrate cycle, biology... tell him about all the knowledge you've gained / are gaining with keeping fish. Parents love that stuff! You could even go as far as getting...

Oh my -- BABY APISTOS IN MY TANK! Need a game plan...

Ok really newbie question -- how would I be able to tell this? That's awesome, thanks! Mine look pretty much like this, maybe a little bit smaller. And hey, your mom fish is way less witchy than mine! She does not tolerate the presence of the male around the babies. Were they old...

Oh my -- BABY APISTOS IN MY TANK! Need a game plan...

Another question : how can I get a rough idea of how old they are? Today is the first day that I saw them, and they are microscopic. I didn't recognize them as fish at first, and actually thought I had some sort of weird outbreak of some sort of worm or something. They stay with the mom...

Oh my -- BABY APISTOS IN MY TANK! Need a game plan...

Thanks for all the suggestions -- very much appreciated. I think I am going to sleep on it, and decide which route to go tomorrow morning. One question : starting when do they need to be fed? I think they were born today -- can food wait until tomorrow ? It's 9:30 pm here , so I'm a little...

Nope, no pics yet. They are seriously tiny so not really showing up (I am a crappy fish tank picture-taker)

Oh my -- BABY APISTOS IN MY TANK! Need a game plan...

Good Lord, I was NOT expecting this. It seems that Twinkie and Ding Dong are indeed IN LUV because today, much to my surprise, I saw tiny baby apitsos (apisto baenchi) swimming in my tank, next to mom. There's a bunch of them. My tank is only 17 gallons, and it is my only tank! How long...
