Hello, I've had a white calvus for awhile and am wondering what the best food is to get him to grow. He's in with my African cichlids in a 40G. I've read that NLS Finicky 1mm pellets are good. Any thoughts?

So I was about to vacuum my 40 gallon breeder tank with Africans and tried using a mini vacuum I had laying around. It worked great in all the nooks and cranny's that my larger vacuum can't reach. And it didn't drain fast so I had a lot of extra time to clean.

Hello, I was at my LFS and they had a bag of cichlid complete food on there counter that a customer gave them because it was out-dated (2007). Is this still usable?

At 1 of my LFS they set up a tank with just a power filter. Is it possible to run a SW tank with just that for equipment? I think it's a 20 or 29 gallon. I've always been too chicken to try SW but would try it if I don't have too throw a lot of money at it. please don't take last comment as an...

Hi guys, When I got my free 55 gallon set up it came with an Ebo-jager TS heater. It's totally submersible isn't it? Also, should it be vertical or horizontal? I'm guessing either. Finally setting up one of the free 40 gallon breeder tanks and going to do African cichlids. Photos to follow......

Animal Planet is having a "Tanked" marathon on today.

I've read that one should use their bio bag filters as long as they can. I'm noticing that after 1 week with a new whisper bag that when I'm doing my pwc that the material is falling apart. They are made cheaper than back in the day. I guess I'll make my own. Anyone else have problems with these?

I'm looking for 2 or 3 whisper large power filter cartridge frames but don't want to buy the whole filter and end up with a ton of extra bags. Do any of you out there have any you would want to sell (or donate to my cause)? :thanks:

I'm always interested in aquarium "gadgets" and bought a sponge filter on eBay for about $2. At my LFS they are around $18. Is it only for fry tanks or can any tank benefit from it? Any info or thoughts would be appreciated. Trying to post pic but won't work right now. I'll keep trying.

Is an old whisper 3 power filter too big for a 29g? It has in it: 2 gnr 5 black neons 3 lemon tetras 3 oto Also want to add about 5-6 neons later.

Does the angle if a submersible heater matter? What is best, vertical, horizontal or diagonal ? It's in a 55g and is 200W. and is it best to be by the power filter?
