Ok, so Basically it comes down to eat setup and the personality of the fish and the experience of the keeper. I'm gonna stay on the safe side and keep it at one. Maybe when I get more experience and knowledge I'll try more.

How important is alkelinity in a setup? Petsmart seemed to put great importance in it. Have angelfish, corys and a rainbow shark in the tank.

I finally got my own water testing kit and am testing my water on my own for the first time. here is what i got. .25 ammonia .25 nitrites and 5 nitrates. can someone interpret those? the way I see it, I need to do a pwc of about 20%.

I did a pwc last night and my ph jumped to 8. I put some ph down in it and checked again this morning and it hasn't moved. Any suggestions?
