    Sick dollars & snails

Thanks for the replies @anteatergoana and @BBradbury. Unfortunately, as expected, all the dollars and snails didn't survive the night. My levels were fine (0,0,10) and I was confident, although possibly wrong to, about adding all the fish at once as I believed after my fishless cycle there...

    Sick dollars & snails

Hi all, I recently cycled a 55G tank and added around 20 neons, 5 small silver dollars and 4 mystery snails. They were acclimatized properly, floating in the water, having tank water added etc. The next morning I see snails with white fluff on them (Pic 2) and they are unmoving. The dollars...

    black ghost: male or female?

So it would be basically akin to when Homer Simpson shoved the dog & the cat into a sack and hoped for the best. Except with less chance of success and certain death :ermm:

    black ghost: male or female?

Incredibly rare, virtually unheard of. I'm slightly worried about what size tank this BGK is in...let alone what size tank the OP will be putting a pair of them in.

    Is it just me?

    There's something wrong with you

    Rainbow Shark

In a large tank of say 100G I'd say you'd have a fair chance. Anything smaller and I'd say the two will more likely than not fight to the death.

    Please help

The white tail end makes me think bristlenose to be honest

    Think this is ick?

Do you actually have a common pleco and 3 clown loaches in a 55G...

    Help with a murderer fish

Some fish are inherently hostile but 9/10 they're just incredibly territorial. How big is the tank?

Help me with the Eheim 2215 (too noisy)

    Can you describe the noise?

    Help with test results

You're either incredibly overstocked or been a bit lax with water changes by the look of those...

    stocking tank question

Agreed. The betta is a huge risk in that stocking and should be avoided.

    My new 75 gallon

The BGK requires a much larger tank than a 75G so I'd avoid that.

    Tire track eel?

Horribly overstocked and those eels would horribly overstock it to a ridiculous amount.
  15. Cynic

    Betta in 1 gallón tank

    Yeah buy a bigger tank?
  16. Cynic

    Overstocking and Nitrates

Almost certainly because you're overstocked and unfortunately it's impossible to know, nitrAtes tend to kill fish slowly but at such high rates you could lose the tank.

    Should I rescue this fish?

Fantastic and well done for at least trying :)

    Should I rescue this fish?

Have you confirmed your LFS will take him? If he ends up in one of your tanks that's not going to end well...

    Fish identity

    Maybe lizardfish?

Small tank is smelling like a dead fish

It's overstocked. A 5.5G is far too small for a great white.
  21. Cynic

    Change of scenery

Anymore clown loaches and you will be overstocked
  22. Cynic

    Change of scenery

Other than the clown loaches in a few years I'd say he's fine personally

Is there really a need to cycle a quarantine tank?

Quaranite Tank, yes. Fish will be in there for a few weeks so having an established source of biomedia is vital for the health of your fish. Medical tank, no. With fish isolated for health reasons you should be performing daily or at least every second day water changes which should avoid...
