The tank is roughly 230 liters which is about 55g. To be honest I'll put anything as long as it carpets & looks good. It also has to work well with med lighting...not asking for much am I ??

Thanx for reply Yeah I think I'm keeping the standard light. I really wanna carpet the tank with dwarf hg,I was thinking of putting java moss on a peice of driftwood to make it look like a tree & some other hardy plants. Do u think that'll work & what's ur opinion on the tank?

G'day guys I just sold my 6ft Cichlid tank & I'm just about to buy a aqua one 980t to start a planted tank. I wanna know if I've chosen the right tank for this & if I can get away with just having a coral sand substrate. I'm leaving the tank as is...only adding a internal filter. Would this work?

I run a fx5, a 600l/h internal filter filled with matrix...I have a wave maker & I've attached 2 sponge filters to my air pump,my tank is a standard 6ft.

Hey all,just got back from lfs & I purchased a red Texas juvie,it's about 6cm but it's still grey in colour,I was warned by my friend that it was a fake & that red Texas juvies are born a reddish colour & should always be red no matter what size they were,is this true,did I buy a fake??

If you want the discus I think you should add it in,it would be the centerpiece of your tank & it would stand out. Also I would consider cardinal tetra's, they're my favorite tetra!

I recently went to buy a sunshine peacock from the lfs & my friend who I took with me thought the owner was feeding his fish hormones based food to improve the color of the fish. Is there a way to tell if a fish has been fed hormone based food!

Cleaning the filter will help with the water looking a bit cloudy...but I'm still confused as to why my fish are dying!

How do I know if I'm over feeding them,I throw in 3 or 4 pinches of food & it's usually gone in 2-3 minutes!

I was feeding them veggie pellets but for the last month I've been feeding them nls 5 days a week,brine shrimp 1 day & tetra color or hei feng fast colour 1 day. Quiet the opposite,they alway come to the top when I'm around & always wanna eat!

Yeah the clown loach had the missing eyes as well. I don't think it's a dominant male because I've been finding fish dead all hours of the day & I don't have overly aggressive cichlids in there. The lfs told me after some tests that water was perfect & in no possible way the cause of my problem...

I did take a pic of my godhead comp after I died but I don't know how to upload it onto the forum from my iPhone But apart from having no eyes & a slightly compressed belly...it looked normal!

I took my water to the LFS to test... Ammonia is at 0 Nitrite is at 0 & nitrate is at perfect level Owner seems to think fish died because I fed them bloodworms 3 or 4 times & water is cloudy because my filter wool is dirt Could this be a valid reason for my cloudy water & 3 dead fish??

Would over feeding the fish be a problem, how many times should I feed them a day?

Tank is decorated with holey rocks, sandstones and slate...no plants.

Thanx for reply Tank has been set up for 3 months,I've had 2 electric yellows & a gold head comp die,I don't have a testing kit just the ammonia chart in the tank,I'm buying a full kit tomorrow & I get confused about cycling...what should I be doing?
