    ro-water

just starting to make my own ro-water and I have a couple of questions, firstly, my TDS meter is saying 132 ppm in and 3 ppm out, is this good or bad? and secondly, what minerals do the lfs add to the water when they ask? I've got a salt water set up thanks

    Sand on top of gravel

unless you remove everything you won't get all the crushed coral out, just remove as much as you can, that's what I done and mine looks 100% better, just make sure you clean the sand before putting it in otherwise your gonna have cloudy water for a while

    Changing sand

    Overflow and return pump.

I'd go bigger more flow has got to be better considering most people recommend 30 times that of your tank 600 gph just won't cut it

Found the sticky it's great if you were looking for what I was I'll be getting an RO unit very soon
  22. Smudgy35

    RO unit

I understand theese factors, the cost of RO water from my lfs is £4 for 25 litres which is just over $6 for 11 gallons, as for re-using my washing machine is mains water fed and I don't have a garden, I guess it's all down to how much it will cost to make 25 litres, thanks for the advice...

    RO unit

I'm thinking of getting an RO unit but not sure if it's going to be just as cheap to keep buying water from my lfs, I live in the uk and am on a water meter, I keep reading that there is a lot of waste from RO units so I can't see how this is likely to work out cheaper, if any one in the uk are...
