Do you use RO or RO/DI water? Ive been having the same broblem and tested my water source and it showed that i had 2.0-3.0 ppm for phosphates which is still high, when it should be 0. Check some of my other threads, they are practically the same as yours. You should find good info there.

I dont see why an RO unit wouldnt work (not trying to shoot you down Lando), I quote from lado's link "Reverse osmosis removes a high percentage (not all) of minerals, nitrates, and phosphates, but not silicates." Thanks for the info Lando.

I dont understand the difference between RO water and RO/DI water. I want to get a RO or RO/DI unit to get phosphate out of my well water. will either work?

Ive been looking at getting a protien skimmer to help me fight my constant algea battle, and dont have any idea as to what a good skimmmer for my tank size would be. I was looking at a Coralife 65 Needle wheel protien skimmer, but i know there are others out there. Would this be a good choice?

hmm...thats exactly what the algea that took over my tank looked like. My glass was covered in it too. Hopefully someone can suggest another diagnosis.

could it be vibrating against the metal? My coralife fixtures fan was loud so i pulled it out and found out that it was just vibrating against the metal underneath.

could it be phosphorous? i put a phososorb pad in my HOTB and the green algea faded away.
