    RO/DI water from the store?

Just got the 29 gallon out of the garage a few days ago and got everything cleaned up.....last time i ran into a bunch of problems with PO4 levels in my well water, leading to a whole mess of troubles with diatom blooms and uncontrolable algea growth. I dont want to invest in an RO/DI unit, and...

overwhelming phosphate levels from my tap water!!

Do you use RO or RO/DI water? Ive been having the same broblem and tested my water source and it showed that i had 2.0-3.0 ppm for phosphates which is still high, when it should be 0. Check some of my other threads, they are practically the same as yours. You should find good info there.

    Difference between RO and RO/DI?

I dont see why an RO unit wouldnt work (not trying to shoot you down Lando), I quote from lado's link "Reverse osmosis removes a high percentage (not all) of minerals, nitrates, and phosphates, but not silicates." Thanks for the info Lando.

    Tank teardown...and redo

I finally got around to testing the PO4 levels in my hard and soft water (both come from a well) and they both tested to be 1.0-2.0 ppm, which i know is bad news for me. I think i will try to get a RO/DI unit, but have no idea where to begin. I only have a 30 gallon tank, and was wondering if...

    Tank teardown...and redo

Well, my parents had a foods meeting for 4-H at our house and a little girl decided to throw books, fish food, and a large assortment of other things into my aquarium, and as a result ive torn the whole thing down and I am now starting over from scratch. I have the 30 gallon tank, a penguin 350...

Recomended Protien Skimmer for 29 Gallon

Ive been looking at getting a protien skimmer to help me fight my constant algea battle, and dont have any idea as to what a good skimmmer for my tank size would be. I was looking at a Coralife 65 Needle wheel protien skimmer, but i know there are others out there. Would this be a good choice?

    Fighting Algea...Help Me Win!

I feed every other day, and for the past week i havent even turned my lights on, and if i do its only for about and hour or two. I just added two clowns and a blenny yesterday, so i would like to run them at least 6 hours now, but without the algea problem continuing.

    Fighting Algea...Help Me Win!

Im fed up with fighting this algea problem that has been goin on for months. Its mostly a green short hairy type that spreads over all my live rock, and the some darker black/brom diatom algea im assuming. I have had a 2x65 watt coralife fixture on there for only two months now, and that...

Coral banded shrimp vs Cleaner Shrimp

I like my coral banded shrimp...he is pretty cool, especially when its feeding time. Then he goes crazy! Pretty active scavanger during the day.

    Emperor vs. Penguin for saltwater

I have an old regent 170 (walmart brand) filter running on my 29 gallon saltwater FOWLR. Its just a HOTB regular filter, no bio wheels or extra media space. Over the past few months, I have added a coralife 2x95 watt fixture and 3 fish, and i shrimp, and i think the biological waste + new...

Modifying HOB filter / Combating light green algea

hmm...thats exactly what the algea that took over my tank looked like. My glass was covered in it too. Hopefully someone can suggest another diagnosis.

Your opinion on Current USA fixtures please

could it be vibrating against the metal? My coralife fixtures fan was loud so i pulled it out and found out that it was just vibrating against the metal underneath.
