    Liquid CO2?

What kind of lighting do you have?

    Liquid CO2?

I believe that the glut, being carbon based is definitely a plus on low-med light setups. It allows the plants to "geta leg up on the competition" ALGAE. If you want to do a med-high light then I'd go pressurized. Rivercats dumps alot of glute in her tank to compensate for not having a...

    Black beard algae

It is odd for fish to eat bba. My sae and a few mollies will but not to the extent that it makes a difference. Did you ever scrape that stuff off and smell it? Nasty, nasty ... I wouldn't wanna eat it either.

    Black beard algae

The good news is, you say you have fish eating bba??? Cool! I'm aware of only 2 fish, my mollies and SAE'S

    Black beard algae

That is bba on the roots. If you have enough water circulation at the substrate then bba will occur there as well.

    Co2 problems...leaking?

I agree, and it's probably just one leak. Your possibly losing pressure in just one spot.

To DIY Co2 or not to?

I tried for awhile on a 40g breeder. It didn't do the trick. I agree with Brian N.

To DIY Co2 or not to?

Imo, not viable or efficient. If you have the $ then try to go pressurized.

    Brown stuff on leaves

Trout may be right. Looks to me like swords so if thats the case, wiping them would help.

    Brown stuff on leaves

One more thing... what's your current stock list? Flora and fauna.

    Brown stuff on leaves

What type of lights do you have? Do you dose ferts? Co2? Photoperiod? From the pics it looks like diatoms and the previous post was right. Once they cover your plant leaves photosynthesis is shut down. How old is your setup?

Wanted to jump in on 1 of your threads Dan. I like what your doing so far with everything. I also like the first pic best, though both look swell.

    Floaty goldfish

Personally, I don't think brine shrimp would be the way to go. If you think constipation is the problem maybe stick with the peas. Though you did mention gas. Hopefully JLK sees this thread. Or try getting a moderator to switch this to another.

You may get better help posting under sick fish instead of planted tanks. Hope everyrhing works out for you.

    How much light?

It's still up in the air as to whether plants need alot, if any downtime for photosynthesis. Algae will be held at bay easier with a shorter light cycle though. Personally, I would use the cotton thread. It's organic and will breakdown within a couple months. The fishing line will have to be...

    Pps pro

My bad :( Sorry bout that. I didn't notice you're in Canada. I guess maybe hydroponic stores is the way to go. Did you try any lfs to see what they may be able to do?

    Pps pro

Just google " greenleaf aqua. dry ferts."After rivercats told me her source that's what I did. They have the pps pro along with customized micro and macro nutrient mixes at an affordable price too. ;)

Advice on Dry Ferts, maybe LED Lighting?

I agree marinelands leds are overpriced. Mine was a gift from my sister who'd seen an old "wish list" of mine. As far as the algae issue and no co2 are concerned, liquid carbon will do basically the same thing for high light situations. I have dual t5ho on a 20g long and have no algae issues...

Advice on Dry Ferts, maybe LED Lighting?

I do alot of shopping at drs. Foster&Smith also. No they do not have the finnex leds. I however did purchase the marineland aqua plant w/integrated timer, 24-36" I have it rite now on a 40g breeder heavily planted tank along with 4- 6500k cfls. I'm so far, happy with the marineland led. As you...
