aaahh cool, java ferns, I hear they are fast growers as well. Plus I have read somewhere the the java ferns are bitter or something so goldfish doesn't like eating it, but I always thought that jave ferns were a high light type of plant, but if they grow in low light I guess I am safe.

I always thought that the amazon swords require a good subtrate with fertilizers and they needed a lot of light? They don't need that much light? also, with cheap gravel, are you sure they will survive?

The only problem I have with PMDD is that I don't konw how much Potassium is in my tank. I know that the magnesium is easy to check, just check the hardness of the water. So I always add the potassium sulfate, hopefully it doesn't OD the poor plants.

nod nod kenor, I love the tetras, cuz they always swim together, I had 18 of them together in a 28 tank once and it was awsome watching them swim all together in the same direction all the time.

No with the penguins and emperor, if the sponge is too dirty, the water still has room at he top (good design) to pass through. So the water just doesn't get filtered, but it does not over flow out of the filter.

Actually I don't use the PMDD to the letter of the law, i have each individual component seperately and I add only what's needed, if I know what's needed, and when in doubt, I just don't add anything :wink:
