like said above, its pretty much up to you. If you want to go with more base than live, it will be cheaper but just take a bit longer. Eventually (within a few months) its all the same anyways, so it really wont matter in the end as long as you take everything slowly (which you should do anyways)

skimmers will generally aerate the water plenty on its own IME. Do not, however, use the venturi thing on a lot of powerheads...that will give you salt creep like none other (and same goes for air stones/bubblers...too much salt creap). Also, if you use either of those, you're gonna have bubbles...

how much media did you use from another tank? If you used all the media from another tank, you may not see much of a nitrite spike. And is this tank planted at all? If so, that could be another reason...they eat up nutrients before they show up. But just keep waiting...back when i did...

I hear that reeferrocks.com is back in buisiness now so i'd definately check them out. As i recall they were something like 2 bucks a pound and shipping was pretty good i think. Many people go on about how good the service and rock is, so i'd check it out.

tank looks really good :) But you should slow down on adding stuff for sure. I would not add the clown in for another couple/3 weeks. Adding 10 fish at once will definately change the bioload, so the bacteria is gonna have to bounce back before you put in your clown. your tank seems to be a 135...

srry, i'm not good at figuring out diseases and stuff, but i dont think the lfs would have quarantined them for a month before selling. Firstly they're guppies, which i've had live thru pretty much the worst conditions, and secondly, i dont know of any lfs that has the facilities and the means...
