Fish out cycling 10 gal tank, have questions. :)

My cycle is finished!!! Nitrates are high, ammonia and trites are finally zero. We are doing water changes, and once the nitrates are down we can put the Betta in? There's nothing else to do to cycle right?

Ideas to make my tank better?

Looks like I have some thinking to do on whether or not to keep him or rehome him. Thank you all for giving your advice!

What are the red plants in this tank?

My tank is finally done for now

I like it. I think it looks beautiful and I'd feel relaxed watching it. What do you have in it as far as your fish? How big is the tank?

Ideas to make my tank better?

The local fish store guy said it's an orange marmalade although he doesn't have any black spots or marks like ones I've seen online. I've looked online and seen that the "red zebra" cichlid looks very similar, even though it isn't red. It said captive ones look more orange than red. Lake...

    Starting my FIRST saltwater tank!!!!!!!

I love that Coraline algae on your rock! It really makes that coral "pop". Keep testing your water. Be prepared to do water changes if the ammonia or nitrites start to spike. My dream is still to have a saltwater tank. One day I will have one... one day!

Fish out cycling 10 gal tank, have questions. :)

Well hopefully this attaches right. This is a week ago after we added the plants, lights, driftwood and lace rock. It's a lot cloudier today.

    10 gal Betta Tank

My daughter 10 gallon aquarium project! Fish out cycle and planning for this to be a Betta tank for her Betta and hoping we can add a few community fish. This will also be a planted tank.

Fish out cycling 10 gal tank, have questions. :)

Update: so ammonia is gone now, nitrites spiked to 5+ and now seem to be coming down slowly, and nitrates are so high it's crazy. Ph is good at 7.4. So do I leave the tank alone and let it do it's thing, or should I do a water change? I feel like leaving it alone should be fine, but I...

Fish out cycling 10 gal tank, have questions. :)

Hello! My daughter is in the process of setting up a 10 gallon tank (with a fluval 5-20gal HOB filter) for her betta who currently lives in a 1 or 2 gallon tank. We just got an LED plant light for it today. The cycle is going good I think- we started it at the end of January. We used a...

    Adding Sand To New Tank

That's a good way to do it. Very little clouding and faster than how we did it. When my daughter put her substrate in, she rinsed it in a bucket really well then scooped it into a cup and lowered the cup into the tank and poured the sand/gravel mix directly onto the bottom of the tank. It...

Ideas to make my tank better?

I was keeping him by himself because I didn't want him fighting with other fish. I'd say he's a good 4 inches, if I added more fish I'm guessing it'd be best to add ones near the same size as he is? Do you think he will get bigger or is he about full grown? I've had him for probably 2-3...

Ideas to make my tank better?

I cleaned the tank tonight, it was due. Did a 4 gallon pwc. I added some carbon to the filter. Klaus seems to like the new arrangement. He's swimming around checking out his new layout. I do think he needs a different tank footprint, but until I get a new tank to fit him better this will...

Ideas to make my tank better?

Thanks for the ideas! He is able to go in a circle as it is, but it is less than interesting to look at. I used to have a 55 gal tank but I had to downsize and now regret that I gave it away. What size tank would you suggest for a single cichlid? Maybe I can look into getting him a new tank.

Ideas to make my tank better?

I'm just wondering if anyone can suggest how I can make my tank better. It's a 35 or 40 gal hexagon tank with one plant (anubias) some large rocks, pool filter sand substrate and an orange cichlid. There is also a mystery snail and some Malaysian trumpet snails. I have a fluval HOB filter...

    60 Gallon Cichlid Build Thread

It's a beautiful tank. I think your plan for a few more plants is nice. That filter will meet an early end if you don't fix the intake tube depth! Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

Stocking ideas for 15g heated tank

A small school of long fin danios. I have some long fin leopard danios in my 35 gallon and they are lovely and very active. I'm not an expert on stocking but you could maybe do 5 danios and 3 cories with some zebra nerite snails. The nerite snails lay eggs but the eggs need salt water to...

    60 Gallon Cichlid Build Thread

In regards to your tank, it is looking marvelous! With the rock and plants in you can move the heater down and it will be hidden. Also, as far as the filter intake tube, I believe you can take that center valve piece off, remove the bottom portion of the tube and put the intake pipe cover...

I need to make my tank look better help!

After I looked at it again, what if you swap the large rock and driftwood' places? The rock by the plant makes that side of the tank look "heavy", if that makes any sense. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

I need to make my tank look better help!

That little tank has so much potential! First off, I'd change the background. I really like a plain black background. It makes the actual things in the tank pop! It would be cool if you could get a handful or so of small white/tan stones to place around the bottom in little piles. I agree...
