Ive read there little difference. Idk. But paintball store
Please forgive my ignorance, but I haven't yet seen an answer to the other question. In a tank maintained at a higher temp., like the GBR tank at 82, the DO would already be down some, correct? Doesn't the addition of CO2 further diminish the O2 concentration? In a community tank, wouldn't the addition of CO2 mean keeping fewer fish? Sorry; thinking like a Zoologist here. All organisms excrete CO2 (even plants in the absence of light), so I guess I just don't get the necessity for additional.
Being a classic over thinker, I called the store that filled up my tank. I asked if he had "food grade" and he said his is industrial grade that has been filtered and did not know of anyone that offered "food grade." He went on to say all of the corporate offices that have aquariums in them use this CO2. So I guess this is safe then. My GLA equipment should get in today so I will set it up tomorrow!
Additional co2 doesn't further diminish oxygen levels because they are not interrelated to each other within the aquarium. Adding co2 just means adding more co2. The oxygen levels will not change because of co2. If there is little oxygen then adding more co2 will make it more difficult for the fish to breathe but that is because there is little oxygen.
In a heavily planted tank additional co2 actually increase net oxygen production via photosynthesis.
You cannot create and maintain plant growth like this by respiration alone.

There will be no shortage of oxygen in a tank with this kind of plant mass.
Should be the same
