I wouldn't really say I found "plantex" but for my micro dosing I just use a micro nutrient mix that my local hydroponic store has. Although I think these are the same thing, but i stand to be corrected.

I live in Ontario as well and I have been able to find everything I need in hydroponic stores. The only down side is that it costs almost twice as much compared to the green leaf prices

Alright I just started the black out, here's what it looks like I put on the old hood that I had laying around and made sure that no light can get it. I disconnected the co2 and placed an air stone in the tank. How long till I should take it off? Are there any other recommendations?

It is very easy to get ahold of, i got some from petsmart. I personally didnt see any side effects when i treated my tank.

what are some of your water parameters? Like Nitrates? Phosphates? Ph? Nitrites? etc. Also you said that you have a problem with Blue green Algae. Have you tried treating it with E.M erythromycin?

Thats what i feared to hear... it sucks not knowing the true reason for the green water, in my particular setup. Well i guess ill have to result to the good old black out... :(

There isn't any sunlight hitting the tank, although there I a north window beside the tank where no real sun come through

My lights are on from 7am-8:30am and then 2:00pm to 8:00pm.

Do you think that shrimp will be affected with the blackout?

Are there any particular UV filters that you recommend? Also do you think that another black out would solve the problem for a second time?

I have recently noticed that my tank seems to be getting cloudier as the days move on. About 5 months ago i had the same problem (green water) but it was fixed with a black out for a period of 3 days. Im just wondering what could be the new cause this problem. Well anyways here is some more...
