So I have a little tank that is now empty, no water, no rocks. Been vinegar and hot water cleaned. it's just too empty. I am wondering what I CAN put in it. a single male betta? some rcs? It's got a small air pump filter rated for 1-3G tanks that came in the box when i got the aquarium from...

    Hello!

hey fish friends! so I have upgraded Twinkle, Little and Star's tank. they have gone from the 1.5 gallon tank to a 10 gallon tank, it's the best I can do right now! I added a bamboo and a leafy plant and some of my volunteer snails. Jump started the tank with biomax in the two filters i have going.

6 weeks in, still using Zeo

interesting. I have read raving reviews for the purigen, not sure what it is though. I would like to keep my tank as simple as possible with only necessary components in the filter, my ideal is 1 foam and some bioMax. MAYBE 2 foam and bioMax, the bioMax I have found that I like are the Fluval...

6 weeks in, still using Zeo

Thanks, the Zeo is in a "convenient" insert package so I will have to resort to the latter method. I currently don't have testing for them parameters :X however the api freshwater master test kit is on order from amazon. See what kinda parameters I have soon. Thats a good idea, perhaps some my...

    Cloroxed my tank....

sorry for lag. I would probably use 50-50 water-vinegar your tank should already be sparkly clean from the other two washes.

    Cloroxed my tank....

I would use a salt water wash followed with a couple rinses and a dry. Then a vinegar wash followed by a couple rinses and a dry. My thoughts are that using vinegar last would be ideal because it is at least food grade.

    Hi from the UK

Cheers! So the idea is to add ammonia, and then allow the tank to operate under controlled settings and the nitrate and nitrites cycle will begin naturally. Once it is basically zero'd out (ammonia ppm, nitrite ppm and nitrate ppm) you can integrate your Danio's and have a beautiful 200L tank...

k2 viper 150 watt metal halide problem

Grounding I Second changing the ballast. Usually the only thing to go wrong with ballast fixtures is the ballast and the bulbs. Also the ballast should come with all the wire you need for the lamp. But you could also try cutting your wires as if you are going to replace just them. Plug it in...

I am running an AC70 with 1 foam, 1 ammonia remover insert, and 2 bioMax. I removed the Activated carbon because of my plants and the idea that the BioMax lasts longer and is more beneficial to the environment. I have just put in the second bioMax bag and plan to allow both to sit for a...

Is it possible to have too much in a aquaclear filter

I have read that the carbon is the best for removing tannins, never read anything about the tannins dissolving over time naturally. As for over-stocking your filter, you could try removing one of your bags of bioMax and just put slightly more bioMax into one of the bags. I think I have the same...

    Hi from the UK

I am intrigued by the idea of a fishless cycle. I was only mentioning the hardiness of your fish for adding them after the tank is cycled. Are you planning to migrate your current inhabitants into the 200litre?

Could try a bottled distilled or drinking water... Just be sure that it doesn't contain your chloramines or chlorine..?

Newbie ready to make a purchase

Hi, Just a thing I have heard is that the Danio species are very hardy and would make great fish for cycling in the tank. As for your swordtails and shark. In my experience I had a velvet red tail since day one, of my set up, brought home a shark 3 weeks later and they didn't see things eye to...

    Hi from the UK

Hi Jon! Thats a nice Fluval set up! I think your ammonia reading is .25 ppm everything else you have for readings I would agree with. I your have read that your Danios are very hardy fish and are great for a "fish cycle". Please don't take my advice on that! I am still new and have only had a...

    Hello!

In my 29 gallon tank I am using the AC ammonia remover... In my 1.5 gallon tank I am doing about 50% changes bi-daily. Sometimes I am using water I pull from the larger tank. The 29G tank has been set up since Feb 1 2012, holding plants and volunteer snails since Feb 7, and holding fish since...

    Hello!

Hi, I am fairly new to fish keeping, but managed to keep some goldfish for about a year (they are doing fine still) and decided to get a larger tank. I got a used tank on Craigslist with everything that guy had cheap. The tank turned out to be junk, but the stand and a few of the accessories...
