Maybe take a picture with you to pet shop and see what they think :-) he maybe got a wee rip in his tail or something and that's how infection got in, or by fin nipping but u would have noticed if the other was doin that im sure ur other fish is innocent haha

Looks like finrot to me, it's treatable with medication from pet shop and his fins will go back to normal, it's not the other fish to blame, but they will both need treated, I've got a shubunkin and he's had finrot and his fins are beautiful now, hope this helps xx

I thought plecos only sucked the slime coat if there was not enough food or algea for them? he's definitely not hungry, I have removed him from the tank though for now I'm gonna have to hunt for a bargain tank (not parting with him even tho he's a pain in the butt) lol loki Xxx

also im in a dilema if he keeps it up because the only other tank i have is a small 8 gallon 1 and pleco is about 5 or more inches! so theres no way he can go in there also the small tank has no filter its home to 6 neons and a guppy at the moment

filter for a 65 gallon tank? its got 2 golden comets 1 sarasa comet and 1 shubunkin in it, i know the tanks to small for them and i will be moving them into a larger tank when possible, i also need to find someone with a pond for my 2 golden comets soon (will be really sad seeing them go though)...

thanx for the words of encouragement, i agree the hard work will be worth it in the end, I just hate seeing my wee guys lookin miserable, although they are using the tank again. before with the fin rot they just floated about lookin so sad bless em but they are swimmin about now, and all fins...

my goldies have been ill lately with fin rot but they have been treated and are making a great improvement they are now being treated for internal parasites, I'm just gettin disheartened now, I want my happy healthy aquarium back! I know ill have it back to normal soon though its just hard work...

maybe i should have cheap filter lol just googled the fluval and its a bit pricey for me atm but looks great!

hey just wanted to update n say thanx for advice, i got a test kit 2day and my tank water is fine :) and my fish seem to be gettin better! got more meds 2day though to continue treatment, still no filter as yet but all is good :) thanx again loki xx

ive been doin 25 % water changes they have an air stone in and fin rot medication stuff, im not gonna b able to get a filter anytime soon! so ill just have to keep changing water daily i guess, its a 65 gallon tank

has just died! I don't have another 1 and I don't have any water testing stuff and neither does my local pet shop! I've had to get 1 ordered, and to top it my fish have fin rot! all this = sad face loki Xxx

Im just back from rock hunting with my wee ones, was great fun went to a wee river not far from here n loaded up the bottom of the pram lol now I need to clean them up and see wat 1s will look best in my tank, I look for rocks that don't chip easy n look good lol thats my knowledge of rocks lol...

anyone else ever had a blind fish? I know he's got a hole in his eye and is deffinately blind on the left side but I'm pretty sure he can't see out his right eye either, I'm guessing he's poked his eye on something, he's been like this for about 3 years now it doesn't seem to bother him much...
