Honestly I liked the salt water look to it and the gal at the local fish store said that crushed coral was fine for freshwater just not to buy their live sand.... however I should have done my research. I put fish in holding tank and put the crushed coral in let it settle and put fish back in... i have one live plant that i transferred. It took more work then i had planned but worth it. Fish are still getting use to it. I put them through alot :(

Yes i will be monitoring the water ph I am also buying some drift wood which I read somewhere that it will help lower the ph

i just went ahead and did it i put my fish in a holding tank and replaced the gravel with sand and put fish back in once water cleared

I have had my tank setup for awhile now but hate the green gravel in it. I want to change it over to sand... I just purchased some crushed coral. i have 6 tetras and a loach in it how can i remove the gravel and replace with the sand? how long will i have to let it sit before adding plants...

I am a newb to aquariums; however I been keeping up with my water changes and my fish are still alive and happy. The tetras have been a little aggressive to each other but I think they need more tetras to school with and also the loach is very shy he needs a few friends too. I decided to wait...

took my water in to get tested and it checked out good so I bought 3 fish to see how well they do Long Fin Red Minor Tetra x2 Black Kuhlii Loach x1 I also bought two lilly bulbs to see if they will actually sprout and grow I want to get a few glow fish and two frogs
