    Coralife Super Skimmer HELP!

opening the return valve all the way and then dumbing it back until the H2O level is right at that little bend on the bottom part of the skimmer is the only thing I can think of...... you didn't happen to cut the intake tube to short did you?

whoa, I didn't even know anyone had posted in this thread in months..... This tank has been torn down for about 5 months now and it got moved to a 72 gallon bowfront that had close to 200lbs of liverock, 2x150hqi MH & 2x96 PC lighting, css 220 skimmer, 20gallon sump with 50lbs of LR and almost...

    Multiple tang question

You can have that in a 525 no problem. A japanese hibachi place in my town has a sohal, a yelow, a blue, and a naso in a 280 and they are all full grown and get along fine! The sohal does run the show in the tank though. If I were you I'd probably nix the Sailfin, they don't look as pretty...

My Hermits think snails are snacks.

I'm not sure what kind of hermits they are, but my blue leggs have killed about 10 turbo snails since I put them in the tank. (about 3 weeks ago)

    Hermit Crab in Polyp colony

I'm sure that some hermits would pick at the polyps, but probably not the hermits that you have. do you know what kind of hermits they are? more than likely, the hermits were picking algae off of the rock or something off of the polyps, not eating the polyp. HTH

do I have enough lighting for a crocea clam?

Everyone else is going to tell you no, but I will tell you yes. I had a purple crocea in a 20 gallon under 65watts of PC light for about 8 months. It grew about 1/2" in that time. That's just my experience though.

    Pairing Maroon Clowns??

I tried to add a small MGB clown in with the one I have in the tank now....... I stuck the bag over in the tank(still closed) and my clown FREAKED OUT. he started attacking the bag and flaring up like crazy. you could hear him hitting the bag from accross the room.... thump thump thump. I...

Moon Lights; worth the extra cost?

I've got the coralife MH fixture with the moonlights, I am not sure how much more they cost, but I guess they are kinda cool...... it has a weird effect when the lights are off. I could do either with or without them though.

    Adding a clown

my maroon and gold banded clown tried to kill a smaller almost as soon as I put the bag in the water to begin acclimating him (yes, the bag was still closed) unless they are percs I wouldn't even try it. and a bigger one would probably work out better I would think

    live rock

if all that was in the aquarium is Live rock sand and water you can start over if you want too.......... my water was green like that in the beginning too. I put my skimmer on it and the green turned into crystal clear. I probably wouldn't start over if I were you though. just wet skim...

    live rock

take the rock out, scrub it with a toothbrush to get all the algae off, rinse, repeat as needed. Oh and do water changes. I did that to my friends 120, he had cyano everywhere: I cleaned off all the rocks with a toothbrush, snagged off anything that was floating around in the aquarium with a...

Is it OK to cycle with fresh water?

that's why if you put SW in a septic tank the tank fills up..... all the poo-eating bacteria dies.

    Algea on glass...weird though...

yeah it's either that, or the flow is hitting the glass a certain way and causing it

my first SW tank need help!!!!

you should be fine, loose those bioballs that come with the built in overflow. You could pretty much keep any kind of softies in there you wanted, pretty much any LPS for that matter. I wouldn't get an anemone, not because you couldn't suport one, but because it wouldn't have very far to...

    Green Star Polyps Feeding Question

I don't think they are going to grab it and pull it in as soon as the get it anyways, I guess you should just squirt it around them if you want to feed them. as far as you salinity goes, just add fresh RO water when the water evaporates. what kind of hydrometeor are you using?
