I was at the exact same point as you...Ready to throw in the towel b/c of green split pea soup water. I just (about 2 hours ago) did what lyquidphyre just recommended. (I happen to have a Magnum, so that helps) The tank is absolutely crystal clear like never before!!!

Quick update. I did the week long black out after a huge water change. It looked so crystal clear! Amazing difference. That was then, this is now. The green water is back with a vengeance. I haven't done any of the "root cause" tactics, such as the CO2 increasing. We just had our 5th baby...

PS Cruise is like 5'5" or 5'6".

I can look but off hand do you know of any thing on line that walks one through setting this particular type of set up.

I think we are over prescribing meds for ADD for sure. Cruise has been acting like a complete lunatic over the past few months so right now he has a huge bullseye on his back. The press is just waiting to pounce on him & make him look stupid. He should try and hang low or something. :roll:

I decided to give the black out one more try. After reading other things out there, I went with a very large water change (90%). I added a Magnum HOB from my other tank & put in the micron filter media. I'm going to do a 5 day blackout. From some of my reading, I think this came about...

Crud. I'm ready to throw in the towel on this planted tank...Our water is pretty high KH, I have a water softener. Maybe I should crank that up. I can't see myself buying the pressurized system.

Is my DIY method going to be able to achieve those levels? How can increase them? I'm guessing by adding another 2L bottle or going with pressurized. :thumb: Thank you all for the help! In addition to getting CO2 levels up, should I do another blackout?

Thanks for the reply. I will read the links you provided. The green water treatments gave the black out method which didn't work. There were a couple of others options but I know I need to get to the root cause with my water which is out of balance. How do I get it down?
