The UV lights would kill off the algae, correct? What would the carbon do? (I am running carbon right now anyway)

when I tested the water it was my KH was at 230mg/l and GH was500mg/l... So as long as I keep them at that level it should be fine?

I would have to agree with Hukit. What you do at home is your choice, but with that choice comes responsability of dealing with the out come. I would say good luck with your breeding but please only share the photos with the rest of the world.

Yeah the cichlids leave them alone.... I have seen no real aggression since they were all added about 3 months ago
