    LED Lighting advice

Hi, Can anyone tell me what coral restrictions I will have with my new 12 gallon JBJ LED nano cube? (size and light) The tank is currently cycling with LR, and i will make sure it is fully cycled before i start slowly stocking the tank. I was also wondering if people think it would be a good...

    Advice on Nitrate Reducer

wow awesome tank! I will probably put some java fern plants in to help with water quality, but there are only a few plants that "do well" in brackish water. For brackish, you need to put in marine salt and i put in about 1 cup (between one cup and a half of a cup) of salt in per 5 gallons, so...

    Advice on Nitrate Reducer

Ok, but 50% water changes in a brackish tank every week isn't such a little deal in terms time or money. If i could use this or a similar product to put off WC to every other weeks that would be dramatically better. I never had any problem doing weeklys in my FW tanks for 12 years, but brackish...

    Do biowheels really add oxygen?

Well all HOB filters have a waterfall effect.... The waterfall from a power filter definitely ads a lot of oxygen to the water.

    Proper method for mixing salt

So about 1-1.5 table spoons per gallon? Ok I'll give that a try on my next water change. Thanks guys!

    Proper method for mixing salt

Hi there, I have two questions: Can anyone tell me how many cups or table spoons i need to add to each gallon of water to achieve 1.005? I have a hydrometer. I know its brackish, but no one in the FW/BW was able to help really. You guys are the salt experts right? :) I have had my 20gal going...

    Do biowheels really add oxygen?

Thats what i suspected. I can't imagine that minor amount of surface aggravation would make any difference. Sounds like a marketing ploy.

    Do biowheels really add oxygen?

Bio wheels are suppose to support more BB because they turn and let the bacteria get some oxygen. I wasn't aware they add disolved oxygen to water though.

    HELP! Tank is at 85!

If you use really powerful lights, keep them off. If your heater is set below 85 which it obviously is i dont think it will make a difference, but i suppose you could turn it off. If it gets any hotter, you may want to set up a "glacier run-off" system. basically just buy a big block of ice and...

how much salt to add for brackish

Its a 25 gallon, and i'm starting with one f8 puffer and a couple BB gobies. F8's prefer 1.003-1.008, so i'd like to try to keep it around 1.005 so that i can get some java moss growing in it. Im already fed up with those plastic hydrometers. I think i'm going to get a refractometer.

how much salt to add for brackish

I am starting a brackish tank and i thought i had the right salt adding info, but clearly don't as my brackish water is too low in salt. There seems to be so much sketchy info on those yahoo answer sites. Can anyone tell me how many cups or table spoons i need to add to each gallon of water to...

    Tiger Barb feeders

Hi, I wouldn't say there was a lack of color in them, they just looked like any old tiger barbs, but after I feed them minnows, the next morning they were just glowing with color. I can tell when they are stress (after weekly water changes) because their stripes fade and there's no orange in...

    Tiger Barb feeders

Ya totally get what your saying. I always net them from the lake and put them right in a jug of tank water and QT them for 1 day and then net them and put them in the tank. Its a risk, but tiger barbs are tough and I've never had an issue.

    Tiger Barb feeders

Hey everyone, A couple weeks ago i got a new set of Jr. tiger barbs. They are still really small so i wasn't sure how they would react to live food, but all of the tiger barbs i have had in the past love live food. We live on a lake and around our dock there are thousands of those little...

    Quick Biocube 14 question

Thanks guys! I've done some research and I would hate to buy an 80$ coral to put in the tank and then have it die. I like the seeding with coral rubble idea if that works. I think the panorama pros are 12k which must mean 12,000k right? So one of those panorama pros would do the trick?
