    New tank, fish is struggling

Well, what you need to do is test the water ASAP. Your tank may be having issues if you recently added fish or if it never cycled correctly. I'm not sure all the fish you have are compatible, either.

    Growth on java fern

Yeah I'd trim where the effected areas are and see if it comes back or spreads to the healthy leaf matter once the bad spots are gone.

    Best Algae Eater

I wouldn't suggest plecos or algae eaters for algae. A lot of plecos will get lazy as they get older or only eat algea when they're really hungry. I'd say something like Panda Garra. They are awesome patterned fish and absolutely go CRAZY on algae in tanks. Just keep in mind that they like to...

    What Other Pets?

I just have a cat. I try to keep to one mammal pet at a time, makes me feel like I can give them the most attention that way.

Welcome! Kids can be like that. Hopefully you find a way to help him get comfortable in his own room soon.

    Hello All and a question

I double the recommendation of AqAdvisor. Probably best to re-home your pleco and get a smaller species. Welcome to posting here, though!

Free: Catfish to Good Home, VA Pickup

It's come to the point where, after a lot of effort and fighting, I can't afford to maintain a large tank with the current financial strain on my shoulders. At the moment there are three out of four fish that I won't be able to keep, and would like to see them go at least someplace somewhat good...

Yeah I know, I'm 18 and if someone would fund even just one of my tanks I would be ecstatic.

Plants that can grow in sand

Most plants do well in sand, it depends on what kinds of plants you like!

    Platy fry with adults

If they're small enough to be eaten, they will be. If not, they may be bullied. You can always try, but I wouldn't suggest it.

    Algae

The fish death probably your nitrite. Do you know how to do a water change? The algae is from too much light. Cut it down to 8 hours.

    Monster Tank

But most knowledgable people won't pay more than $2/gallon for a used tank setup, especially one with no full equipment set. Someone may eventually.

What are the canisters? What brand/size? I'd hate to have that many filters - I'd sell them separate and get just one canister for the entire tank.

Need some guidance in a bad way!

I have Balas in my household. They are not extremely active, a lot of the time, as long as they're comfortable, they're chill. Swim around a lot less actively than most fish. When they're scared or stressed is why you need a large tank. They go extremely fast, and will slam their heads against...

    Monster Tank

Keep looking, Vanimal! I don't know if anyone's mentioned these, but I like Lemon Fin Barbs and Apollo sharks. If you get a decent sized tank they're both pretty. As for catfish, try Eclipse Catfish or 4-Lined Pimelodus. If you want something really active, Asian Upside Down catfish or Black...

Using Slate Tile to make caves

Yes, just wash it. If you want to adhere it together you can use aquarium-friendly silicone sealant.

    how many cory cats??

Since it's a tall tank, I'd say two. Three at most. Catfish need a lot of bottom swimming room and taller tanks just don't have that for them.

Need some guidance in a bad way!

Are you insane? A couple of Bala sharks can do very well in a 125. They're ONLY 12" usually, and even active that's plenty. Apollo sharks are 12". Okay for a 125. Hell, even common pleco at a whopping 18" are ok'd for a 125, but that is minimum. AROWANA, are fish that may need a 220, and they...

Need some guidance in a bad way!

Oh, I'm sorry for your loss. I looked through it, didn't see that. The 90 should be fine, but even once you're cycled don't start looking - because 6 months from now if you find a cool fish, but now you've already stocked your tank, it will be a bad feeling. I like Rainbowfish though, if that's...

Need some guidance in a bad way!

All those fish will probably need something close to a 240, the 90 is a GREAT start. Just know to save up for them when it's time. I'm following along, the fish you have are gorgeous and are a great joy in a large aquarium - it will make your home more relaxing. NO cichlids with the stock you...
