    20 Gallon High Stocking

Hello! I have some questions about stocking my currently empty 20 gallon high tank. I would love to do Bolivian Rams and kuhli loaches with some small schooling fish, but I've read mixed things about this combination and my tank size. Is it okay to keep a pair of Bolivian Rams and four kuhli...

    Zero Nitrates After Cycling

So I have a 10gallon planted tank I plan to stock with a Betta that appeared to complete the cycling process a few weeks ago. Since the tank is planted and some small snails hitched a ride on my new plants I let that be my starter ammonia source and let the tank run. I used an API master test...

Sorry to bring this post back, but I did the black out and the algae got a lot better, but was not completely gone. The algae has come back, and I can't figure out what's causing it. Any Ideas?

What kind of algae is this?

I have this algae growing all over my substrate (eco-complete). I can pull it out fairly easily, but it grows back very quickly. does anyone know what kind of algae it is and how I can treat/prevent it? It's growing in my 60 gallon planted with diy CO2 and two T5 HO bulbs.

    Black Beard Algae

In my experience Siamese algae eaters will eat small amounts of it, if there is a lot of it in your tank you may want to considor a bleach dip. What is the BBA growing on?

    Eco complete vs. fluorite subtract?

I think it just comes down to preference. I don't think I've heard of anyone being too displeased with either product. I prefer eco-complete because (as azmodan said) you don't have to wash it before you put it in your tank, it comes in larger bags, and it's cheaper on amazon.

    60 gallon ropefish stocking

Thanks for the replies! So I went to my LFS to get the congos, but the ones they had were babies (so I would have to wait a while to get the ropefish) and I saw they had these beautiful banded rainbows that were on sale. So I ended up getting 4 banded rainbows. With my current stock (4 banded...

    Driftwood?

Hey! I've done this sucessfully a few times. First you should scrub the driftwood to get rid of any debris and left over bark stuck to it, then boil it to clean off any bacteria. I'd boil it for about a half hour. Boiling it also helps remove tannis and makes it waterlog a bit faster (if it's...

Which led light should I use for my planted ten?

The general rule for plants is that they need a light reaching at least 6500k (sunlight) to grow. I know the marineland light gets to 6000k. Amazon swords are pretty easy to grow, lots of people have sucess with them in low-tech tanks, so it should do okay with the marineland. But if you're...

    6.6 Gallon Fluval Chi Stocking

You could probably have two dwarf puffers (3 might fight). 6.6g is pretty small, you could have a betta or a colony of shrimp.

    60 gallon ropefish stocking

Hello! This is my current stocking idea for my planted 60 gallon with a fluval 306 filter: -2 ropefish -5 congo tetras -3 siamese algae eaters Is this overstocked or could I add more tetras? If those don't work are there other schooling fish I could keep with ropes without overstocking?

    Rope Fish Tankmates

Hello! I'm in the planning stages for a 60 gallon planted rope fish tank and am wondering what other fish I could have. I was thinking one or two rope fish and then some schooling fish. Are there any that are big enough the rope fish won't eat them? Or anyother community fish they can live...

12 gallon community tank stocking ideas

Thanks for the suggestions! I have a school of cardinals and rummy nose in my 60 gallon discus tank so I would prefer something different. I like the idea of Cories, shrimp and school of smaller tetra. I would probably have to buy the shrimp online (my LFS only gets a few RCS in stock and for a...

    Noisy Fluval 306 filter

Hello everyone! I got a new Fluval 306 filter for my 60g freshwater tank and it is really noisy. It sounds like a motor boat. Before I turned it on I made sure that I pumped all the air bubbles out. I have heard other people say that theirs in virtually silent, so I was wondering if anyone knew...
