I have these dark maroon polyp growths next to my hitchhiker mushroom and I was wondering if anyone knew what these were?

I have had a hitchhiker mushroom for a couple months. Today I noticed it kind of shriveled up and now it has become detached. Below is a pic it's now a purpleish color.

The LFS has told me to cycle my tank with a damsel. I have also read of other people doing the raw seafood cycle too. Any opinions or favorite ways to cycle a tank. Maybe a timeline of events when cycling. Thanks

Hey guys! I'm new to the whole saltwater realm. I have a biocube 29 with live sand. I'm trying to get the cloudiness to go away. Would putting live rock in help to settle the sand? If not what would help. Thanks for any suggestions.
