I just recently bought this FDL and am already amazed at his personality. I wanted to make a new tread so lionfish fans could showoff and discuss the awesomeness of the fish.

The beauty of home aquariums is that you can make it look how ever you want. I have mine resting on the back glass and still made arches and tunnels for them to swim and hide. The do however, like to swim out front more often.

Wow! How much live rock? If you can move your powerhead a in the direction of where the like to hang out. Also rescaping the live rock will force them to find a new "home"

I found the fitting from the return pump to the return hose was not attached fully and was allowing water to drip back to the sump. I figure this might be where the air is getting in. I'm no rocket doctor :) but a broken impeller blade might cause some issues. I have also noticed more bubbles in my DT. Could this be the issue?

After lowing it about 3* I noticed the heater has not turned on yet. I am not sure it isn't the heater yet but I have unplugged it just in case. The return pump was still working but it was much hotter to the touch than the water.

As of now I can only assume it was my return pump failing. I will get a new one in the AM

I came home from work today to fin all my corals ( minus the zoas) limp or retracted. I checked all my parameters and all looked well. I noticed as I put my hand in the water that it was hot as hell. My temp was off the chart. Literally off the chart.. My thermometer maxes out at 86*F I tested...

+1^ also try to add a little more flow to the colony. My took some time to open but have done much better in a med- high flow spots.

I love the flame but have never had one. I am not sure how much rock you have but from my experience they need tons of places to hide. When ever I am looking at getting a new fish I checkout liveaquaria.com. That sit has a lot of info hope this help ya l. And good luck ;)
