Betta Acts AFTER a Couple of Days

I honestly would have never expected this. One of my females killed and began to eat this male... The Betta fish took NO PART IN IT, until afterwards, he decided to eat the dead shrimp and take it away from the other.

    Starting Up a New Aquarium!

Any suggestions on heater watts? I think I'll plan on doing two shrimp species, one or two SMALL schooling fish like danios/tetras/minnows, and go with more exotic choices that I could name! Will have to go through intense compatibility searching though... It's okay! I have a 5gallon right now =/

    Starting Up a New Aquarium!

At least 450 gph? Gotchu! Will look into the CF500 I'm not entirely sure how the canisters work, like the stages, any basics?

    Starting Up a New Aquarium!

I'm currently aiming for a CF400, seems to be the most popular and nicely rated on Amazon so far! I'm just wondering if it'd be enough for a 75... Most reviews are from 55'ers

I was aiming for a bigger community, rather than just a few fish =/

    Starting Up a New Aquarium!

I think I'll keep the 75 gallon downstairs for visitor viewing and just in case! Anyone happen to have a good insane guide on what could be stocked?

Help what is this on my fake plant

This looks like something that would be on the bottom of a real plant bought from stores to hold roots together... Maybe it's something that was in the container of the fake plants root and rose up during your vacation

Betta Acts AFTER a Couple of Days

Ohgawd I hope he isn't in the filter... I'll check after work to be sure, but it'd suck to see a dead shrimp in there =/

    Starting Up a New Aquarium!

I may be going for a 75 GALLON! Will definitely be keeping this one downstairs. Anyone have any thing you think I'd definitely need to buy for it?

    Starting Up a New Aquarium!

I'd probably have the two standard shrimp builds, opposites so they can't mate. Still deciding on tank size, I'm not entirely sure about the 50g yet, but I'll keep looking into it and for one! Trying to decide whether or not to go huge and bring it downstairs, or fiftyish and less upstairs...

Betta Acts AFTER a Couple of Days

Thanks for the info, it sure helped a lot! I understand that I'm overstocking the tank and plan on making changes very soon, plus my 50gallon~ tank I plan on cycling and setting up over time. I'm just worried about the aggressive level of the betta, if it were to randomly attack a shrimp after...

Betta Acts AFTER a Couple of Days

So I recently purchased a 5gallon tank to help my sister's betta, it was living in a 1gallon box thingy. With the tank, I gave the betta an ivory mystery snail tankmate, and 3 ghost shrimp. It seemed to be perfectly fine and loved how it was living. It would occasionally follow the shrimp or...

    Starting Up a New Aquarium!

So 50g seems to be favored so far! Do you guys think I should have any worries about it being upstairs? Should I go for a used tank from craigslist or a new one?

    Starting Up a New Aquarium!

I'll try to see if my room upstairs would be fit for a 50 gallon! I don't want to risk any flooring issues and what not up there... Yeah Pikmin! It's the video game involving a ton of little colored specialized creatures, my ghost shrimp reminded me of them so I wanted to have colors relating...

    Starting Up a New Aquarium!

Hey everyone, I'm extremely new to the fish life, but I've done a ton of research so I should able to do fine with any tips you can give me! What I'm mainly wondering is what size of tank I should go for. I'm planning on having this tank on a stand in my room, which is nicely sized, upstairs...
