I have tried to order a few colorful plants but since the package changes from cold to hot when coming down here I always just get a bag of mush so ill wait for spring to order more.

Just for future reference for me what are the ideal levels for everything in a saltwater tank? I know 0 ammo and nitrites but what nitrates and what else should be tested?

they should have some kind or container at lowes or HD, why dont you take the canister out of there and use the whole area for a sump?

I would put the shrimp in some cut stockings tied at the top so it's easy to clean up, yes you just let it rot keep testing the water till you see the ammonia and nitrites at 0 and nitrates below or at 5.
