Platy "weaving", Neon w/ whiteish patch & water parameters help.

I'll be sure to not overfeed (that might have been part of the problem) and do more frequent PWCs. Hopefully the flare up on the neon will subside after a while.

Platy "weaving", Neon w/ whiteish patch & water parameters help.

Thanks so much for the reply! I did not cycle the tank. I did use the same filter media and the old water when transferring to the larger tank, since the filter was also suitable for 25G.

Platy "weaving", Neon w/ whiteish patch & water parameters help.

Was finally able to get a pic of the Neon Tetra. The Platy seems fine today so please disregard that part.

Platy "weaving", Neon w/ whiteish patch & water parameters help.

Whiteish patch on Neon Tetra & need water parameters help. (25G tank contents in my signature. Add to that a recently-discovered bunch of tiny snail hitchhikers) One Neon Tetra has had a beige/white patch on its side which has neither increased nor decreased in size. Has been going on for two...

Need help to ID "surprise" Snail, please!

I agree with you regarding shell shape... I'll do some more research on mystery snails, and will definitely post pics on this thread when they grow up!.

Need help to ID "surprise" Snail, please!

Thank you, and good luck to you, too! Hope you don't end up with a massive infestation.

Need help to ID "surprise" Snail, please!

Whoops, how embarrassing -- upon closer inspection, there's probably about a dozen snails in my 25G tank, mostly stuck to my Amazon Sword plants and a couple to the gravel. Should've known there's no such thing as "only one hitchhiking snail," especially when they're so small! Thanks for the...

Need help to ID "surprise" Snail, please!

Yesterday I discovered a tiny snail the size of a grain of rice cruising along the plants and gravel. Would it be possible to ID said snail in the pic attached? And should it stay or should it go (see my signature for tank contents 25G)? FYI: 8 weeks ago I purchased Amazon Sword plants and 4...

Did New Top Fin Heater Kill My Platys?

Finally got around to testing parameters -- 4 days after the fish died. I left the filter running and the moss ball in there during that time. There was also some uneaten food particles I couldn't remove with the net. Parameters as follows (5G tank): pH = 6.6 ammonia = 6.0 ppm nitrite = 0 ppm...

    moss balls?

I just purchased a moss ball and have been afraid to put it in with my pleco, haha. Good to hear they won't devour it!

That "New Plastic Smell / Odor" on Immersed Aquarium Accessories...

I didn't test parameters during the 2 weeks quarantine. Maybe I should do a post-mortem water test just for my own knowledge...?

    Warning re: water temp

Sorry about your loss. I would definitely check the water parameters right away above all else.

That "New Plastic Smell / Odor" on Immersed Aquarium Accessories...

I'm re-posting my question in the General Hardware category out of curiosity & just in case... "Did New Top Fin Heater Kill My Platys?" (Thread Title as posted in Freshwater - Unhealthy Fish yesterday) 2 weeks ago I acquired 6 blue platys & moss ball from a LFS, all of which were healthy...

Did New Top Fin Heater Kill My Platys?

Thanks so much! Do you think they'd all die within a couple of days, though? Just wondering... All the same, next time I'll QT only three platys at a time just to be on the safe side. How about that "new plastic smell" of freshly purchased aquarium goods that will be immersed? Maybe I should...
