    Snowflake eel with puffy eye.

I have got a young snowflake eel in my 55g tank. A day or so ago I noticed that one of his eyes has a white puffy bulge over it. It seems as though he cant see in this eye because he has to turn his head all the way around when he wants to see were he is going. How do I treat this? I have...

    used tank and diseases?

Ask Him why he is selling it in the first place!!! Maybe he has an ich problem or some other nasty desies that he never figured out how to kill. How healthy does the LR look? I have been in you situation in the past and the so called "LR" was pretty much dead except for millions of...

    Nasty hand-laid Tank Glue

Just make sure that you dont break any seals when you are doing this. I am suspicious that it does not look neat. If it is a well know manufacturer then it should look neat and not have any rough edges. Maybe they broke a pane of glass when they were drilling it or something?

    good clean up crew?????

Also try to get more snails than crabs. Snails eat a lot more algeas than crabs do. And also make your crew as diverse as possible, like 3 turbos, 6 nassurus, 5 astras, ect. That way you will have all or most of the common algeas covered.

Anyone with a Aquac Remora Pro Please help

IF you set up a sump, you have a lot better options with skimmers than HOB models.

    t-5 lighting

T-5's are good for smaller tanks, (smaller being upto 100g). T5's hardly produce any heat, and use less electricity than MH. You may also look into an 8 bulb configuration, if your tank is wide enough for them.

    Sand Sisters

They do eat themself hungry because they eat all of the life in your sand bed. I would get a fighting conch instead.

Anyone with a Aquac Remora Pro Please help

You can get the tubing from any hardware store like home depot. Is there anyway you could take that peice of glass off?

Sand directly from the beach in So-Cal??

Agreed. Sand from the beach also has all of the skimate from the ocean in it, so you basicly put everything that a skimmer would take out, into your tank.

When buying, how do you tell cured from uncured rock?

Do a water change and see if the smell would go away. You should do a water change at least once every two weeks when it is cycling. I think you added the clowns a little to early. It is safe to assume that all LR that gets shipped is not cured, simply because if it was cured, then there...

    RO Unit... why to buy?

I have heard that you shouldint use RO/DI water for fresh, and just use RO for FW tanks. Is this true or just BS?

What all will a skimmer remove?

I just got an Aqua C Remora Pro. I Have heard that it will remove water conditioners and clorine removers. So if it removes the conditoner, is it removing the clorine as well?

    canister filter changes

Well you shouldint use a canister filter for a SW tank, just because it will turn into a nitrate factory unless you clean it at least once a day. The only filter that you really need on a SW tank is a skimmer, LR and a DSB. BUT.. You should change out the carbon pad and fine pad about once a...

New tank cycling: Use the protein skimmer or not?

It wouldint hurt to run the skimmer but I think it would mess up the bacteria if you used the UV sterilizer. UV kills a lot of the bacteria you will need to cycle the tank.

    Bioballs vs ceramic

I agree that ceramics is the way to go. They are generally smaller and most likely have more surface area than the Bio Balls so you can fit more of them into a smaller space.

    CO2

It will take it a little while for it to get going. Mine kinda started to bubble in the begging but then it stoped, then about a full day later it was going constantly. Give it a little more time before you start a new batch.
