    axolotls

Axolotl are an endangered species. The glacier lakes in Mexico where they lived were destroyed leaving less than 100 in the wild. Axolotl live 15-20 yrs or more. They require cold water in the range of 60-68 degrees to survive. It is recommended no other fish be housed with them and that they...

    axolotl help wanted

Axolotl in the wild live in glacier lakes. Keep the water temp between 60-65. At the most 68. No tropical fish with them. No fish period. They are a species only tank. Most of their time is spent on the bottom of the tank walking. So always to a long tank with more walking space. They do best...

    axolotl help wanted

Axolotl do best at 60-65 degrees with no other fish in the tank. They are social and prefer the company of other axolotl. However, if keeping one. When a baby, you can start with a 10, however I wouldn't. I would personally go with a 20 long for one with a canister filter and a chiller.

    axolotls

Sorry typos! Without other fish! No fish in the tank with them period! Axolotl are not tropical. Water temp 60-65. In the wild there homes were glacial lakes. And the few fish that can be kept with them peak at their gills. No Fish!

    axolotls

You need a min of a 10 gallon tank for one. Think floor space instead of swimming space for them to walk around. They are social animals. The are happier in groups. They require a tank with other fish. They must be kept by them selves. They need cool water so you will either have to rotate...

    Axolotls eating night crawlers?

Yes night crawlers are fine. So are red worms. Wal Mart is a great place to get them. They have a live bait fridge in the outdoor sporting section at most Wal Marts.

    DIY coke bottle filter?

Thanks Nat for the link but it's a little out of my budget. Drs foster and smith have their filstars on sale for about 80 bucks with free shipping. But I can't even think about buying a canister filter until after Christmas. Too many other responsibilities going on right now.

    DIY coke bottle filter?

I have 5 adult convicts and 30-40 half inch fry and they just laid eggs again. Did a 50 percent water change yesterday. My nitrate was slightly high but everything else was perfect. I will do another 50 percent water change in the am. I added two filters I made from 3 liter coke bottles. My hob...

    DIY coke bottle filter?

Ok I have a 55 gallon convict tank. I have a hang on the back filter. Right now it's a glass bottom. No matter how many times or how often I change the water it remains cloudy and hazy. Not being able to afford a really good canister filter yet, I used a 3 gallon coke bottle and DIY ed a filter...

After yet another round of this killer fungus in my tank. I bleached the tank with all infected filters running in it. I will clean everything with vinegar and then with hydrogen peroxide. Then I will treat tank water with fugal meds. If it comes back I'm throwing everything out.

Why do people not like goldfish?

I love my goldfish. Now that I added the external 4 stage filter they are a lot less work. We bought 4 little fish and they are now baseball size. We have them in the living room. I also have cichlids in the dinning room(2 55 gallon tanks) a guppy breeding tank, a beta tank 6 gallon, and a 10...

I don't think it's over stocked. It's a 55 it has four goldfish, four of the little catfish, two giant Dino's. however, the goldfish are getting larger, about baseball size, I should start looking for a larger tank for them.

    goldfish show off.

They are in a 55 gallon and are almost 2 yrs old. I bought the black one labeled as a Moor at WalMart but was later told it was a Dragon something or nother... I just know its a bully. It bumps the other fish and bugs the mess out of them when they try to eat. I have four goldfish in that tank...

    Clear slimy stuff killing fish

No I haven't tried a uv on it. When I went to pour the bleach in the tank my daughter spotted a whole bunch of newborn fry, so rather than risking losing a bunch of fry that I can barely see. I dumped fungus kill into the tank and will treat it until they are big enough to see and move. Then I...

    Clear slimy stuff killing fish

Tonight I lost 8 expecting mothers due any day. No slim...I guess the tank move was too much for them. Ironically males are doing well. It's just the pregnant mothers who are dying. And they are sinking to the bottom of the tank, no floaters? Any input?
