    20 Gallon Convict Tank

I like the sound of the tetras and platys! Not overly keen on the loaches though ? They'd be the clean up crew I'm guessing?

    20 Gallon Convict Tank

Yeah I've looked on there before and they seem pretty reasonable, I think they're in Queensland though and they only offer the local delivery on tanks, unfortunately ACT isn't local enough I don't think :/ :)

    20 Gallon Convict Tank

Would Jewel Cichlids Work? Ive done a little bit of research and they seem like they stay pretty small and look like nice little feature fish :) when I was at the LFS I asked how many would suite a 20 Gallon (silly me speaking American terms) and they said around 6-8 Jewels? That seems like a...

    20 Gallon Convict Tank

Yeah they're really ****y. It's cheaper to just get the tank and stand with no lid, I know aqua one does some pretty reasonable ones that you can buy from pet barn that have some nice stands with them but they're around $200-$300 which is what I'll probably end up having, or even just one of the...

    20 Gallon Convict Tank

Yeah it's pretty outrageous! Anything more than the little goldfish sit-ups they sell in the pet stores you're paying mega $$$ for :(

    20 Gallon Convict Tank

I do agree now that I have done some more research, I would be able upgrade tanks around Christmas time, so could I put some juveniles in a 20 gallon and then move them into a 3ft 40 gallon ? Just thinking of some options! I will check Craigslist and a couple of other second hand sites as well...

Thanks everyone for the info! Would it be possible to have 2 females in a 20 gallon at all that way you don't have to worry about any breeding happening?

    20 Gallon Convict Tank

Thanks hapes Big Tex! Just called my LFS to see whether they had any Convicts and it looks like they won't be getting any for a while. I am looking online now and have found what sounds like a pretty good and trustworthy mail order fish company. We'll wait and see what happens!

    20 Gallon Convict Tank

Hey there! I currently have a 20 gallon tank cycling water at the moment and I have decided I would like either a pair of convicts or just 2 or 3 female convicts. The dimensions of the tank are L: 60 W: 30 H:46 ... Whether I get a pair of convicts is going to be decided after I've talked to my...

Buying a 55 gallon tomorrow, fish ideas?!?!

For the African Cichlids you would be looking at sand, and then a mix of small and large rocks to give them hiding places and a few caves to mark their territories around. You can also add plants but they would probably be dug up. Something like anubus would be ok because you can tie it to the...

Help!! Need to redo tank ASAP!

Unfortunately I had to move the fish into a bucket in order to clean them tank out thoroughly, it would have caused the poor fishes too much stress trying to clean around them. I have taken out everything including the background which won't be going back in. And have cleaned the gravel, and...

Help!! Need to redo tank ASAP!

Hey everyone, I have been given the task of fixing my brothers tropical tank for him. He has neglected it over the past couple of months and has been doing minimal cleaning and maintenance which has resulted in poor quality water and lots of algae. Surprisingly his fish are still alive, which...

Buying a 55 gallon tomorrow, fish ideas?!?!

you are on the right path! I am in pretty much the same position as you are at the moment, except upgrading from an even smaller tank! African Cichlids from the Malawi Lake such as Mbuna (Rock Dwellers) look stunning in groups but don't require much aquascaping, which can be convenient for...

    Affordable 3D Background

Hey everyone! I am in the market for an affordable 3d background. Whether it be factory made or DIY. I am getting a 4ft tank, 122cm long x 46cm high. Long story short I have looked at online stores and i can't seem to find anything decent that isn't foam under $300. It is for a Malawi...

    Discus or Mawali Cichlids ?

Also, has anyone ever had any luck with a mildly planted Mawali Tank? By this I mean maybe a few anabuses growing out from the rocks... That would probably be it. Any takers?
