I have seen that spot on Rainbow fish before at pet stores but I'm not sure what it is. I would try to isolate that fish in a quarantine aquarium. I had ich in my 55 gallon and it took out 7 of my 15 rainbow fish. Seems diseases spread easy to this fish. Good luck, hope he gets better

I just bought some Black Neons for my 40 Gallon and they are working great with my Boesemani Rainbows. I agree they are a great smaller schooling fish.

I think that anytime you deal with aggressive or semi-aggressive species you kind of roll the dice because you just don't really know how they will behave with other fish.

I agree with Florio. I have 3 freshwater tanks and if I get another tank I am going to try a marine tank. A lot of work but a huge payoff. I believe you can have a Tang in a 75 gallon tank along with other awesome Salt Water fish.

I'm not sure if the fish was actually scared to death but stress on any fish can result in death. Are there any aggressive species in your tank that have bothered him? Could also have just been his time. Sorry to hear that you had a fish die. It always sucks!
