What did you name your fish?

My son was 2 when we got our two goldfish - one is white and one is gold. He named them "Goldie" and "Whitey".

    Upgarding tank

It's a used tank and is coming with a filter but I will run both as I want to have a cycled filter for if I need to quarantine.

What kind of pleco is this?

I think that he is a big one but I'm not sure. I am trying to decide what size tank he needs. (He's small now, I want to know how big he'll get)

    If you have livebearers...

Is it easy to tell the sex? How do you cull? I don't think I could just scoop them out and kill them. Is there a fish that would eat them? I'd feel like at least that is the cycle of life... (I know, not really but I'd feel better about it)

    If you have livebearers...

How do you stop them from taking over your tank?

    Upgarding tank

I am getting a larger tank for my goldfish. If I move my filter and gravel to the new tank will I need to worry about cycling? The new tank will hold more than twice the water. Would it be best to half fill the new tank and add water gradually or will that make no difference? There will be the...

How long should i wait before adding new fish?

To make a long story very short, I had a very simple cold water tank (10g, 2 goldfish, 1pleco, 1 Betta) going for over a year before I knew none of that was right. When I found out, I separated the fish, heated one tank, gave all the fish more room and thought I was doing the right thing. The...

    Tail loss from jumping out?

Hey, are any of the meds you mentioned safe for beneficial bacteria? Leave the water colourless so I can test it? Thanks again for all your help, it's incredibly kind :)

    Tail loss from jumping out?

Thanks, I will try this and let you know how it goes. When you say you don't see any signs of fungus, do you have any idea what the white dots might be? I have regular maracyn but I haven't used it. I will pick up one of the other mess you recommended tomorrow.

    Tail loss from jumping out?

The jumper's tail is definitely looking much better! I think it's been almost 2 weeks or more and it seems like it grew back a bit. It used to be covered in white. These last little spots haven't budged in like 5 days.

I put in 1/2 tbsp (in 5 gals) this morning. They are in a small tank until things improve. I change the water everyday because its not cycled.

    Tail loss from jumping out?

Got it! Again you can mostly see it at the top. This one used to have a long tail like the other one before it dried out.

    Tail loss from jumping out?

I am not sure if anyone is still reading this, but I have treated with fungus guard for 8 days. I still see a couple small white spots on the fins. It doesn't look like ick to me but I'm not sure how long the fungus meds take to work. I have them in clean water with aquarium salt for now. Should...
