    Upgrading fertilizer dosage

Sorry for the multiple posts. I read online that when dosing dry ferts you should always dose macros one day and dose micros the next day over the course of 3 times a week. (Ex: macros Mon,Wed,Fri & Micros Tue,Thur,Sat. With weekly 50% Water change on Sunday.) The reason being that the phosphate...

    Upgrading fertilizer dosage

I also do not have a way to measure the CO2 in my tank. I heard I can measure CO2 by comparing two tests. Can anyone confirm which tests? The Echinodorus is growing bright red.. That is my only positive sign of at least some CO2. As far as ppm, no clue

    Upgrading fertilizer dosage

Thank you all for the responses. I would love to do the burst of lighting for X amount of hours a day. Unfortunately my fixture only has 1 switch :( oh well. When I started I had problems with algae but I can't say that my plants were growing slowly. Many of the plants were growing out of...

    Upgrading fertilizer dosage

I put in the third T5ho. I split the baby tears in half and have them tied down to two rocks that are sitting on the substrate. With no responses as of yet I'm going to go through with the 50 percent water change and start the heavy dosing. I have the GH/KH tests and Phosphate test kits...

    Upgrading fertilizer dosage

My 29 gallon planted tank has been set up for six months. At first I didn't really know what I was doing and this showed when I had a massive algae outbreak because of the 4 T5ho's that I had running for 10 hours a day. I took steps toward recovering the tank by cutting the light to 2 T5hos...

    55 Transformation

I would recommend quarantining the neons for no less than 3 weeks. Neon tetras are very fragile and can drop like flies if you happen to introduce one with neon tetra disease to your current stock.

    T5HO Lighting

According to this I should be using 3 T5ho's. does that sound right?

    T5HO Lighting

The light fixture is a EnviroGro FLT24 2-Foot Four Tube T5 Fluorescent Grow Light System. The fixture seems to have descent reflectors. I am willing to put all 4 bulbs in, I just don't want to do that before I get all of my dry ferts. I run the light for 5 hours, then off 2 hours, then on 5...

    T5HO Lighting

I simply want to know if enough light is getting into my 29 gallon aquarium. I currently have 2 T5HO suspended 10 inches above my topless tank. Should I be running all 4 T5HO bulbs with the aquarium light raised that high? I have DIY Co2 and dose CO2 booster daily. I want to know if I am in the...

Dry Fertilizer for the Planted Aquarium

I didn't think there would be an issue. It just seemed like every site that talked about dry fertilizer had instructions on how to mix them. Glad to hear that it is just an option. Thank you everyone for all of your input. :fish2:

Dry Fertilizer for the Planted Aquarium

Are there any dry fertilizers that are not recommended to be dosed directly into the tank without dissolving in an appropriate amount of RO or Distilled water? The dry ingredients I intend to dose are Potassium Nitrate, Potassium Sulfate, Calcium Nitrate, and Plantex CSM + Boron as the trace...

    Planted 29 Gallon 2 month update =]

Im having a rough time finding a piece of DW that Iike. i have some type of val on the substrate near the front of the tank. if I could get a hold of some baby tears or dwarf baby tears that would be alright. I have moss growing in a 10 gallon. We will see...

    Planted 29 Gallon 2 month update =]

It's definitely a rainbow shark. The tail has a darker red than the fins but red tailed sharks have black fins. Rainbow sharks also tend to be more of a gray with a tint of green on the body while red tailed sharks are black.

    Planted 29 Gallon 2 month update =]

Thank you Old Scales. It's hard to not throw in a whole school of neon tetras. 4 week Quarantines are proving that store bought neon tetras are very fragile. Building a decent size school of them is a much longer process than I thought.

    Planted 29 Gallon 2 month update =]

I was going to move the rainbow shark into a 55 gallon tank with some Australian rainbows if they would work together. The rainbow has a fake driftwood cave that it controls. If the cories stay away from the cave all is peaceful. Thanks for your reply.

    Planted 29 Gallon 2 month update =]

Current stock: 1 Rainbow Shark and 3 cories. I will be adding 2 neon tetras tomorrow (the ones who survived quarantine out of the original group of 7). Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Planted Tank Water Change amount

I just started a 29 gallon planted tank. It has four 24 inch 24 watt HO T5's suspended 12 inches above the open tank. I read in an article that 50% water changes are important in fighting off algae and the overall health of my tank. I was wondering if this was true. I also run DIY Co2 into an...

    Planted Tank Water Changes

While doing a routine weekly water change is it important to match the temperature of the tank? There are no fish in this aquarium, just plants.
