    Khuligirl's planted 20 long

I almost did that, but the spray bar sits about 4" below the surface, and I'd like my stem plants to be able to grow taller than that before they get pushed over. I think mine only came with one clip/ suction cup. Does yours hang at that same level, or were you able to attach it higher on the...

    FresH2O's 20g planted rescape

What diffuser have you been using until now?

Looks great! How is the flow for you? Edit: oops sorry just saw your post on my thread :)

No, I only have one part of the spray bar on.

Does the pressure not get released at the end of the night when CO2 turns off, and have to build up again each day?

    Khuligirl's planted 20 long

Ok. Here goes... I'll cut close to the spray bar just in case something goes wrong so I'll still have enough tubing if I need to reattach it. Edit: Well I'm very disappointed. Lesson learned I guess. Don't buy products no one has heard of. It has a ceramic disc that should diffuse tiny...

    Khuligirl's planted 20 long

I think adding this inline atomizer is going to be easier said than done... I have the filter turned off and that knob pulled up that stops siphoning, now what? Do I detach the hosing from the spray bar or from the canister? There is still water inside the tubing that will need to drain out...

    Khuligirl's planted 20 long

Ok, I will block the sides of the tank somehow without touching the light. I wasn't planning on adjusting the CO2 at all, just getting a refill on my paintball canister. The way it's adjusted on the regulator will stay the same.

I can't dim the lights :/ it's a Finnex planted plus, so it's either on or off. After the disaster last time I went out of town I just want to make sure I do everything I possibly can.

    Khuligirl's planted 20 long

So I'm going out of town for about a week starting on Christmas Eve. What steps should I take to ensure minimum algae growth and maximum plant growth while I'm gone? I'm thinking: -lights on a 3 hrs on, 2 off, 3 on split photoperiod. (How to I set the CO2 for this?) -definitely refill CO2...

    Khuligirl's planted 20 long

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Flchamp, this is what I have noticed as well. Nothing kills it, it only grows slower or faster depending on conditions. Even a single tiny hair will break off and grow a new clump on whatever it sticks to. I'm not sure if mine is slowing down because of...

Just updated with a picture. Here's another http://i349.photobucket.com/albums/q381/bnz0429/97CFFEAA-B5C8-4042-958C-DDE6CBA2439F_zps6uz8jmnm.jpg I would describe the color as golden brown/ mustard yellow

Got 4 otos the other day. Every flat surface is clean now! The AR mini and red ludwigia leaves are shiny and colorful with zero algae. The LFS said they'd had these guys at least 3 weeks, and they only had a few left, so they should be pretty healthy. I don't have a quarantine but so far so...

    FresH2O's 20g planted rescape

I love mine so far! I've had it about a month. Amazingly quiet, and produces very strong flow in my 20. I believe it was $54 on Amazon. Haven't had to clean it or take it apart yet though.

Where am I at in my cycle?

It's common for some nitrates to be present in tap water. Or maybe it could be from decorations or substrate. Many possibilities. You think he could've had an ammonia spike, nitrite spike, and then both zeroing out in a week? The nitrite portion alone takes much longer than that. And just...

    Khuligirl's planted 20 long

Yes he is! I've also noticed one of my sparkling gouramis is alpha male as well. I have 3 of them, but he always makes sure he gets first choice on food and gets the best hang out spots.

    Khuligirl's planted 20 long

Just for fun- my alpha male:) Not sure if he's the only male in the group, or if being the boss just makes the red on his fins darker than the other males. http://i349.photobucket.com/albums/q381/bnz0429/86238297-F278-4440-97EA-AC4B4C959F3F_zps4xzzezzq.jpg...

    Stocked or overstocked?

The tetras are the only fish in this tank?

Where am I at in my cycle?

Are you sure you didn't accidentally mix up your nitrate and pH tubes? I think the colors look like they're switched. The tube on the far left looks like ~5ppm nitrates, and the tube on the far right looks like ~8.0-8.2 pH (very normal for tap water, many cities have naturally hard water)...

    How many endlers?

Don't put 2 gouramis in a 10g. Yes if you lowered the amount to 6-8 endlers in total you could add a honey gourami.

    Glossostigma seeds

Looks great! Are you going to fill the tank and scape it?
  22. Khuligirl93

    Ugh what is this?

The actinics are your problem. Turn them off completely after 8 hours. No "moon" lights. If after a couple weeks you're still getting algae, make it 6 hours.

    Loaches Question

+1 to what coursair said Kuhlis need to be in large groups with other kuhlis. I have 12 right now. They love to snuggle up together in a favorite rock or driftwood crevice. The fewer you have the less you will see them. Also, dojo loaches are a cool water fish and should not be kept in...

    Eggs?

Yep nerite eggs. They can't reproduce in freshwater though, so the eggs won't hatch. If you are seeing baby snails they're probably pond or ramshorn snails

    PH Balance Problem

Have you seen any negative effects on your fish? My parents' house has a water softener and I used it in my tank with no problems for years. In my opinion, people worry unnecessarily about pH in freshwater setups. There are many other water quality issues that are much more likely to cause harm...
