    Hey there from ky

Awesome! Post up some pic once you have it set up and running. The only fish store I go to consistently is sandys. Oroville there is very knowledgable, almost too knowledgable that he has to be reminded at times that his costumers are on a budget lol. Green tree in Indiana isn't bad either...

Need help to stock my 7 gallon aquarium

It depends on what kind of look you're going for.. I'm very biased towards celestial pearl danios so that's what I would suggest. I have 6 of them with a few otocinclus in my 6 gal fluval edge.

    Hey there from ky

That's why I said "most" lol. I will always remember an associate there telling me that it was ok to put cardinal tetras in the same community tank as a jack Dempsey when I was still new at this hobby many moons ago. Boy that was an expensive 24 hours of 12 cardinals at the time.

    Hey there from ky

Where in KY are you from Christy? I'm in louisville. And don't listen to anything from pet smart!! Most of those people in the fish department, the only thing they know is what came in those labels they put the price on!! This is the best place for advice. Welcome to AA!

    Wanted: Aquarium plants

Way way way back them when I used to keep goldfish I had amazon sword, jungle Val, java moss, and water wisteria that did fine.

    Yucky Taiwan Moss "Tree"

waterwoman, is your wood fresh cut or did you let it dry before putting it in your tank? Reason I ask is because it happens more commonly with fresh cut wood. Took me to experience it first hand but fresh cut wood will secret a sap like liquid and then over time it will begin to mold. And...

Wish I would've known you needed some. I just threw away about 2 softball size worth of java today from my tank... Would've just given them to you+the 6 dollars shipping.

Fish for 10g heavily planted tank

The key I usually refer to is if the fish has any ties to a cichlid, the rule of thumb is at least a 20+ gallon tank. And even then, you'd only be able to keep 2-3... If you like that cichlid look, then look for a dario dario. They look kinda like cichlids.

Fish for 10g heavily planted tank

I am beginning to sound like a broken record because I have a crush on Celestial Pearl Danios. But for a heavily planted 10G, about 8 Celestial Pearl Danios would look awesome! Along with 3 Pygmy Cories for prunning the leaves of your plants.

    Help ID these three plants

Before ordering these plants, make sure you know why your first attempt didn't work out - granted they were from seeds/bulbs. Take into account that the plants that you've choosen are high light requirement plants; meaning that you will need at least T5HO and at the very minimum 3WPG. And if...

Wanted: Seeking Some Goby or Goby-Like Family Fish

Try msjinkzd.com Her name is Rachel and she has the best price and most reasonable shipping. For example, her CPDs are 3.50 each while LFS has them for $5.00 - $7.99 each!! She even carries the rare yellow zebra Otocinclus!

    Mid to top swimmer ideas

Very true, I am just so selfishly obsessed with CPDs that I just forgot all about the ranges that he wanted lol.

    Mid to top swimmer ideas

I'm going to say - Celestial Pearl Danios would look beautiful in your tank. Sadly though, you've already ruled out danios..

    What is your fav plant?

Eriocaulon Cinereum! I love Blyxa Japonicas too.

    BBA?

Best thing I ever did for my tank was put in a couple of siamese algae eaters.. They constantly prune my plants of any and every algae and they never bother any fish. Make sure that they are true siamese algae eaters though not the chinese, flying fox, or false siamese algae eaters.

    T5HO lighting?

I have an aquatic life 36" and I'm very happy with it. With that said, the reflectors are not individual reflectors! It is a single reflector, molded to the 4 bulbs. And the fixture is faily expensive.. Mine was $350. I cannot speak for the quality of Odyssea but people have been getting good...

How often do you replace plants?

Really depends on how much you're willing to fork out.. And what kind of plant are you looking to grow.. For a tank that size get ready to spent at least $500 if you're looking to grow high light plant. But for better answer, like the previous poster said, make your own thread. Or else...

Can i use orchid potting mix to dirt my tank ?

Even the organic potting mix has chunks of barks and peat moss as well... It's a great choice if you have the patience and time to prepare it. The first time that I did it, I had pour the dirt into my bare aquarium. Take some water and just moisten the dirt to the point where it turns into...

24/7 Light for my planted community tank

The only thing you would achieve with 24/7 lighting is algae growth (and not just the green slime that gets on your aquarium walls, but black beard algae). Not only will your plants suffer, but your fish will also be stressed. Everything needs sleeping hour too.

How often do you replace plants?

The only plant that I've truly had to throw out are my amazon swords.. And it's not because it died, it's because the root and rhizome grows out so large that it's actually drawing nutrients away from my other smaller plants? I just use the side shoots to replant new ones.. Other than that...

Amazon sword and malayan fern help

Try anubias if you don't want to submerge... The main way that Amazon swords even draw nutrients is through root absorb.

Finally got celestial pearl danio fries!!

I finally got celestial pearl danio fries! The problem is, I never thought I would succeed and did not prepare any infusoria. What are the alternatives for fry foods? These guys are way too small for crushed fish flakes. I was thinking, egg yellow mixed with water.
