    New full tank shots!!!

Lando, just out of curiosity what type of lighting is on that cube? I checked your profile and it doesnt list it, if you could list it here or PM it to me that would be great. Its just such a beautiful tank. Also how often do you do water changes? At one of my LF stores they have a nano and I...

I saved you some trouble) and buy one of those. less than 100$ for the exact same thing. I bought that, and am thinking about buying another. I...

Possible transition from 55 to 75gal

I think honestly the silicone will be fine, I use silicone (normal kitchen and bath stuff) for high heat applications all the time (for VL5 color flags... if anyone knows what I am talking about) and it holds great. Aquarium silicone will be fine. BUT I would still replace it for two reasons. 1)...

    SeaClone 150 Skimmer

I modded mine when I had it, I just cut back the small acrylic tube inside that the 'tornado' comes out of. You want to increase the airflow, so there isnt much of a tornado. It will also limit the air bubbles going into the tank. This will make it noiser and start skimming really soon. IMO...

New LR and coraline is dying? (See Pics!)

I have started dosing Magnesium Sulfate... ie Epsom Salt :) this helps corralline growth, I never found out how much to add, so I just started slowly, now algae growth is just booming!

    Swing Arm Hydrometer Warning!

your probably better off leaving freshwater in it while you store it, then when you are ready to use it then dump that out and do your tests and then fill it back up with fresh water. This way the salt and any other minerals in the salt water and or freshwater that you should rinse it out with...

Tonight our eyes met.... and I did not like what I saw

I assume because its pretty cheap, safe for the enviorment, and it has been proven time and time again as a costomer friendly company. That would be my view on it. I havent purchased from them yet, but I will be doing so soon.

could 'hiker urchins be scraping coralline off LR?

also be careful of them dying in your tank, many times they release toxins... and many times will take the lives of many other animals in the tank... yikes!

could 'hiker urchins be scraping coralline off LR?

but.... they also end up passing it through their systems, and it actually will end up spreading the growth of it. Ever Since I added my urchin my corralline growth has skyrocketed.

    baffles for DIY sump

7 days... thats a bit long, when the smell goes away its cure, I have had things in water in about 15 hours. Keep it in a warmer area, the warmer the better (it will cure faster). and make sure its acrylic, NOT plexiglass, plexi will yellow over time and eventually get too brittle and crack...

STAY AWAY FROM BLUE RING OCTOPI! PLEASE! They are extreeeeeemly dangerous and if they sting you, you will likely die. It paralizes you within seconds. Stay away from them, they are really common in fish stores etc, they are cought regularly, even thought they are so dangerous. Dont be stupid...

    Quick Powerhead Question

with bleach just place it in a bucket and add some declorinator... it will get rid of the bacteria killing power of it. And water should get the rest of the bad parts of the bleach off.

going down to coast soon, can i bring anything back ???

I highly doubt an octopus will survive, they dont survive well in captivity, and if it inks while in transit theres no way it will survive. Maybe shipping would be an option. I have thought this through for myself already. I planned on bagging packaging and shipping mere hours before I get on...

    moving my 29g w/ 10g refugium

    LOUD overflow

the reason why it is so loud is because the water depth at the point where it leaves the overflow is too shallow, if you increase this depth you will reduce the noise. The actuall noise is air being drawn into the pipe, just like when you drain a bathtub for a while it is relatively quiet. Once...

    Help my limp coral

yeah actually proping it up might be the cause of its limpness... I would suggest to leave it alone for a few days. If you get nowhere with that then it may be starting to decline in health :( goodluck, I hope it all works out. -Max

Anyone use or have a RIO Hyperflow pump?

I lied it was a rediculously long work day... 11 hours... I had no idea it would last that long. fragging new rock with various types of zoos

to my understanding, its hard to actually frag some zoos... I would suggest that you place rocks near the rock and wait, eventually one will move over and hop on the nearby rock, and there you have it a new coral rock... it might take 3-4 months, if not more... be patient.

    adding sand

no, NOT regular playsand... you MUST buy some sort of tropical playsand... it will be white in color and look dry... the bad stuff is brownish and looks moist... YOU DONT WANT THAT! (I know all too well..... as I accidentally thought that was the stuff I wanted so I put some in my sump...

Do I really need a sand bed?

    **sorry double post**

Do I really need a sand bed?

I really like the look of no sand bed, it makes the tank 1 billion times easier to clean (so I have heard, I do have a sand bed, but in the future I hope to get rid of it. If you have a sump, put a big one down there, all the benefits.... NO hassle. HTH, Max
