Assasin snails got rid of the same problem in my tank in less than a month! I got 5, one per wall (including the floor). I want to get of rid of them now before they start having babies.

Tiger barbs will eat them. Even if they are too big for their mouth they will tear them into pieces. Vicious creatures! Sorry about your loss. :(

hmm... Treating sick fish can be tricky with the scale-less kuhli loach and the snails in the same tank. I'll keep an eye for symptoms.. but yes that dead fish had tiny black dots and maybe stringy poop, something I haven't seen with the other fish. Thanks again.

Did you try stress-zyme? This product is very good for those nipped fins also it relaxes the fish.

It's probably the temp. Same thing happened to my tiger barbs until I noticed they were 10 degrees under their desired temp. I fixed the issue with a new heater, the older one was faulty.
