    Resetting up nano reef

I've just recently moved and I just reset up my 16 gallon nano tank. I brought all my live rock down with me in buckets and I made sure to rinse them before putting them in my tank. I let the rock sit in there for a few days and then added 2 damsels. So far one has died but i'm pretty sure it...

I use a Nitrex box and that helps a little in reducing nitrates. Its not that expensive either.

    Heat Problems

I have a 16 gallon nano reef thats been set up for almost a year now. It was fine last summer and i had no problems with it heating up at all. Normally the lights only change the temp in the tank +/- 1 degree during the day, but we're getting a lot of extra heat this summer and i need advice on...

The cory's are barely reaching an inch in length, and the two puffers are currently only about half an inch. I do have a twenty gallon the cory's can be moved to if need be but for now they all seem happy and they do get cleaned regulary (3weeks) with my nitrates at only about 20. Thank you for...

Thinking of setting up a nano reef, need some advice!

From my experience you dont really need a skimmer to keep a nano healthy. Actually i had better luck with my tank when i took it off and just kept my HOB filter with an extra powerhead. Plus, the skimmer seemed to inhibit the tank cycling a bit. If all you want to keep in there are inverts or a...

    Pigmy Freshwater Puffers

We have just aquired two pigmy freshwater puffers and i was wondering what kind of food they eat. I have already looked them up on the internet and they said that they love bloodworms, but do they eat flake food? They are housed with two cory cats in a three gallon tank with plants, a biowheel...

    aiptasia anemones

Aiptasia's are really hard to try and get rid of manually. I used to take a needle and inject them with ph down at the base and then into the head. An easier way to do it is to buy some peppermint shrimp. They'll get rid of them really fast and they wont harm your corals either. Since i bought...

    dumb question

I've kept betta's in with my guppies for years and never eally had any problems. I wouldn't worry about the swimming around thing much either if he isn't showing any signs of obvious stress. I've had some that like to swim around a lot and other s that didn't. it just depends on the personality...

    Need Help: Tank Revival

Man the tank souds like a mess. I work for an aquarium cleanig service and i've found the best stuff for getting the hard algae off the glass is the scrapers made by kent. i prefer to use the plastic ones so they dont scratch anything. If that wont get it off then resort to a razor blade and a...

    Lighting Problem

At an absolut minimum you musthave 2 watts per gallon in order to even start thinking of keeping corals. Most people tend t keep at least 2-5 watts per gallon. Also do you have any actinic lights on there? Corals need that spectrum of light in order to really grow and thrive. If you have a glass...

    i have a fraggin question

Yes garf.org is a great way to get some ideas but in myexperience they seem to propagate pretty easily by themselves. I've even see a few tanks almost overtaken by them. What kind of additives are you using in your tank? A good invert food is a great way to start and make sure you have lots of...
