Just thought id introduce my goldfish!

Pretty fish, is that a bubble eye? I had one and it got caught in my hose when I was siphoning the tank. I tore it in half getting it out. I'll never get another one. I was very upset. I had tried hooking up the hose and turned on the water but that fish was Stuck. The same thing happened to...

    Leaves in tank?

Feeding Bichirs and Ropefish - YouTube This is a beautiful video I watched about ornate birchirs and rope fish. I have a birchir. I've never seen a tank with what looks like tree leaves in it. Is that a good thing?

    Red Faced Cichlid

Does anyone have a red faced cichlid. They get large and the males have a hump on their head. I've always thought they were a good looking fish and I'd like to learn more about their care before I purchase one.

How do I get rid of snails?

Well something is eating them in my big tank, I don't know if it is the Tin Foil Barbs, the Birchir, the botia striatas or the upside down catfish. Whatever it is they don't survive long enough for me to see them ever again. I'd just like to clean up the other tanks. I guess I'll just keep...

How do I get rid of snails?

Thanks for the advice. I was hoping I could add something to the tank to get rid of them. Snail poison or something. Today I took out all the plants and treated them with chlorine to kill eggs. I washed all the eggs off the glass when I did a 75% water change. There are still a lot, but I am...

Pros-Cons of collecting native fish -Darters

That is what I like too, baby to big. How many do you plan on having in your tank? I have an upside down catfish and I see him on average once a month. He hides and either never comes out or is out and about when I sleep. Are bullheads an active fish or sedentary?

How do I get rid of snails?

I have 3 tanks. I've been harvesting snails and putting them in the largest tank with the largest fish because they seem to be eating them. I bought a couple of Assassin Snails but they don't seem to be helping. My 10 gallon tank which is a few Endlers and 3 shrimp is infested with them. I...

    Goldfish Aggressiveness?

Chasing is one thing, actual fighting is another. They are probably going through a getting to know you stage. They also are probably setting up who is the alpha fish. Unless your fish look stressed maybe you should just watch them for a day or two to see how far they go. You tank is very bare...

Pros-Cons of collecting native fish -Darters

I'd love to own a tank full of those Asian Carp that are threatening the Great Lakes. My house isn't big enough for a tank large enough to hold them though. They would be so cool in an outdoor pond. I could stand out there and train them to jump for their food likd dolphins. Problem is, my...

    Fantail nudging others - fighting?

They are cute, I'd recommend that in the bigger tank you use sand as the substrate. I wouldn't worry about them. If all he does is nudge them away and no one is hurt its inconsequential.

I'm sure you will do well. You really care about your fish.

    Fantail nudging others - fighting?

Honestly, unless the fish is showing nipped fins or missed scales or some sign of distress I'd say forget it. Little kids fight, fish argue it doesn't sound like a problem. Take cichlids. Now those babies fight. I had an angel fish that killed the other 3 angel fish and a couple of other fish...

    Fantail nudging others - fighting?

Perhaps you aren't feeding them enough and they are fighting over food. Maybe Spotty is a pig and tries to eat it all and that is why he is bigger. What are you feeding them?

    Scared Fish

Do they do that when you feed them? Usually even my skittish fish beg for food when they see me and if I have a can in my hand they practically break the glass trying to get to it. How long have you had your fish and how do you feed them? My tin foil barbs that are a foot long and 13 years old...

    Eel requirements?

I fed mine feeder goldfish. I had a tire track not an American. He also liked crickets. Full grown you might be able to feed them pinkies. I never tried that but I think they would eat them. I also had a small tank of platies and I would feed them to the eel when the tank got too full.

    3 Dojo loaches

They are a food source here as well. I went to a restaurant in our Viet Nam neighborhood and ate a soup made from them. I was warned that white people didn't like it and I have to admit it was strange tasting soup and I probably wouldn't order it again, but it wasn't as bad the Czarnina which is...
