I love my snails! They are gross and fascinating and I wouldn't have it any other way. I drop an algae wafer in every other day. I have also tried blanched veggies, carrots, spinach, and marrow. My nerite snails seem to like them, but my mystery snail isn't interested.

That is a great idea! I am always experimenting with different ways to keep plants in place until they root.

My bettas are the only ones who like the veggies. They don't care for blanched spinach, but they love the shelled peas and blanched zucchini.

Ask your wife if she would like to pick some of the fish for the 300 gal tank. That might make her feel like she's invested in the project. I did that with my husband when I started thinking about getting something bigger than my 20 gal, and now he has grand plans for a 100 gal marine tank.

I am thinking about setting up a FOWLR tank. I have planted freshwater tanks. Are there any plants for marine tanks? Or is it only macro algaes and corals? I would love to have a lagoon style tank with sea grass, but I think it might be too hard for a salt water novice. Thoughts?

My betta gets along fine with the ghost shrimp. But then, he's a pretty laid back kind of cat, for a fish. Also very un-curious. There will occasionally be mid-water collisions if they are swimming for the same tidbit. It's pretty funny.

What's the longest you've gone without seeing your assassins. I'm starting to think they're actually ninja assassins because I haven't seen them in a couple of weeks.
