There is no reason to use carbon in your tank unless you are trying to remove meds. Carbon is usless after 7 days. You can use filter floss to polish your water and to remove small particles and its a lot cheaper.
What size of tank do you have? What kind of filter is on the tank? I would only vac half one side of the tank each week and would only clean the filter out in old tank water as needed you shouldnt need to do that more than once a month.
The last tank that I cycled it took 7 days. It was a fishless cycle I used bottled ammonia and used old media from one of my other tanks. It was great! I would do that again if I needed to cycle another tank.
Why not run both of the filters for the same time for a few weeks? Then you could elimate your TopFin filter all together. When I first started I bought a TopFin 60. I had it for a couple of weeks then took it back and upgraded to a AC 110. I never could understand how the Topfin would hold the...
when I first set up my AC 70 I had the same issues. The air bubble went away. I just went and checked mine and its not longer flowing around the intake. Sometimes after I do a PWC and clean the AC it will do that also. You should be fine.

You should be able to order a replacement brace for the top of the tank. I would not risk trying to repair the...

The only problem...
I have now drained my tank down about 50% and I will go and get a replacement tomorrow... Sounds like a fun filled day ahead.....
Thanks for everyone's input.
I was doing a PWC awhile ago on my 55gal tank and the plastic "T" bar (not sure of the name) that is on the top of the tank in the middle is broke into. How dangerous is this? Do I need to go out and get another tank immediately?
Thanks for your help!!

Yes Bio-Spira can work if you get a good batch of it. It must be kept refrigerated until use and you must shake it very well before you use it.
If you have access to a tank that is already established if you can get some old media from the filter it can also help you with a...
