Yeah, I have noticed it grows very quickly. But I keep it cut back. I just think that the algae gives the rock a more natural look.

I have some algae on one piece of rock and would like to propagate it throughout the tank. Is there any way to attach a piece of algae to other pieces of rock in the tank? BTW its Sargassum.

Thanks for the link melosu58 it has every thing you need to know. I'm going to have to pick up a few more test kits. I do a PWC about every 2 weeks but this additive I got from seachem says it maintains mag and strontium so I was just wondering if I had to test for it.

Ok I tried to lift the rock to the surface and take a good pic of these polyps. unfortunately I broke the surface so the bottom colony kin of closed up a bit but to the right you can see a small colony that is still open.

There isn't a lot of sand on the rock it may be the snails you are seeing.
