Ok I see what your saying. I learned quick about leaving the lights on I try to shut them off for 10-12 hours daily. I didn't really think cleaning the ornaments would effect the beneficial bacteria but I was curious what you all would say. What do you all think about the tabs that you drop...

Can you take it out and clean it off?? Will this effect the beneficial bacteria?

I treated a little over 2 weeks with the temp at around 85.5. I understand you don't have to see it but how else would you know it is present?

Actually I haven't been adding it after the ICK treatment. Since everybody seems to think it's not neccesary I wont add anymore. Unless I see ick present I wont use it anymore. Thanks :king:

Thanks....I thought it helped the fish's stress level, gill funtion and other things. What does adding electrolytes do for the fish? The brand I got was Doc Wellfish's Aquarium salt for freshwater fish. It say the salt never evaporates and is not filtered out. What's the difference from the...

How often should I add salt into a freshwater tank? I know it doesn't really disolve so does it continue to work??

Yeah you could cool off but you'd be getting in there with the shark.. 8O It's not like you'd have a tank to transfer him.

That 1700 shark tank was incredible. Makes me feel like I could at least do this 300 gallon..l :D

Yeah maybe it could be built without the fiberglass. The link I gave leads to the guy that builds and sells these. He's very friendly and open to questions. If you were seriously thinking of building one he'd offer advice. The 300 gallon he's selling is loaded with equipment.

Actually a member of my Piranha forums builds them. I left a link at the very end of my post. He's selling that tank to fellow members for 800 dollars. Everybody else he's trying to get 1200$$.

Pre Step 1. How big do you want it? Make sure you know how big of an area you can work with here by measuring doorways, hallways, etc. unless you plan on leaving the tank with the house. Also by using www.garf.org you can calculate the volume of the tank by typing in the measurements! Pre Step...

I had a ICK problem a couple of weeks ago. I used heat treatment as GreenMagi suggested. I added aquarium salt and raised my heat to about 85.6. Currently none of my fish show any signs of ick.
