Not sure what to do with...

Yup, and I was only running 130W on that 29G, with CO2. lol

Not sure what to do with...

It also produces leaves at each node as well. Looks pretty cool. Trying to find all my old photos, but I think I lost them all when my computer crashed way back then. I found a couple of the 29G that the same thing was happening.

Not sure what to do with...

I had that a while back ago I let it grow out and it grew well over 3 feet out of the tank. But the nice thing, at each of the nodes, it produced flowers that look pretty cool.

Now I noticed they changed the names as well. XP S, XP M, XP L, and XP XL.

    New Filter Decision PLEASE HELP

I've never actually tried the XP1. I had an XP2 on my 29G and loved it. It's also got a valve as well that you can put on the return line to turn the flow up or down.

    How long til airstone helps?

Sounds to me like the tank is still in it's cycle, and there's ammonia and nitrite. Might have a faulty test kit, and strips aren't very accurate. I'd agree, do at least a 50% PWC.

    The not-so-red tailed shark!

This was the red tail shark I had a couple years ago, he was almost 6 inches long.

    The not-so-red tailed shark!

10G is way too small for a red tail. When the black of the shark starts turning dull grey, or the red in the tail starts to fade, you have a major water issue, as well as a stress issue. The small tank size is really stressing it out. He needs a 55G-75G or larger tank.

Nitrate levels too high!!??? Help please

On my 55G and 75G, I've been doing 75%-80% PWC's with no ill-effect on the fish. I just did one this last weekend. And the tank looks great, and the fish are happy.

    canister filter sufficient?

I'm a fan of the XP's myself. I probably would go with the XP4 myself, if it were my tank. I'm not a big fan of Fluvals, had one a long time ago and was not impressed. But never had the FX5, so don't know much on it. I've had XP's for over 8 years.

    New Filter Decision PLEASE HELP

I'm more of a Filstar XP2 and 3 fan myself. Cheaper than the Eheim, but mine have been running for over 8 years and have not had any problems. The XP2 would be perfect for a 29G.

    75G too much?

I currently have a 55G and a 75G, and my preference is the 75G. It's the same length and height, just a little deeper from front to back, 18" instead of 12". Gives you more room to have some nice setups. The 55G is just a little too narrow for me. If you get the 75G, you will like it. And for...

What is coming out of my gravel?

Actually, that's not very far at all, lol. That's just a short distance, lol

What is coming out of my gravel?

Also, if the nurtients are being used up under the plant, then the roots will sometimes come up to the surface and get it's nutrients from the water column as well. Do you have root tabs for the other plants?

    new bulbs?? how to decide

For planted tanks, I'd go with the 6500k-6700k bulbs.

    Root tabs.....

Ahhh, thanks. Now looking through some new plants to add to my tank. Decisions, decisions, lol. Lots to choose from, lol

    Should I buy this light?

I would agree on not going with the PC fixture. I had them when I first started, but after the first couple years, due to the bulbs getting so hot, the connectors and wires get very brittle and can easily break when you try and change out bulbs. I'm currently looking at a T5HO now for my 75G.

    Root tabs.....

I was looking on their site for root tabs and didn't see any, other than the API ones.

    Root tabs.....

I haven't had to use root tabs in a long while, but am looking at doing some changes in my tank. What does everyone recommend?

    Bulbs best for plants?

Actinics don't do anything for plants, so I would replace it. When I did high lighting on my 75G a few years back, my fav setup was a couple of 10k or 12k bulbs, and the rest were 6500k. I was also running 520W and CO2 on it. Growth was CRAZY!!!

    Is this enogh light?

What kind of plants were you thinking about getting?
  24. Lonewolfblue

    Is this enogh light?

That's a good amount of light for low and medium light plants, but for plants towards the upper end of medium and high light plants, they won't do as well. There's a lot of plants you will be able to get with that setup.
