I've been trying to get in touch with 2 different Manzanita sellers for over a week on other forums and can't get responses from them so I'm trying a different avenue. Would these bird perches work? The seller specified they are all natural but he said he doesn't sell wood for aquariums?

I've been looking for a Manzanita root/stump with longer roots and can't find what I'm looking for. Attached is a pic of what I'm trying to recreate. What types of roots/stumps can I use besides Manzanita? Are there ones to stay away from? If I use individual branches, how can I attach them...

If I buy freshly cut Manzanita branches, can they be put directly into the tank or do they need to dry out first?

Since the MTS shouldn't be more than 1" thick and the topping 2", how do you build a hill? I want to have one side of the 75 gallon tank with about a 5-6" hill, sloping down to the other side. Also, does it matter is you use gravel or sand for the topping?

I'm new to the board and to planted tanks. I'll be changing my 75 gallon over as soon as I get all the equipment in. I'd love to have an LED light with a moonlight option and possibly a controller but don't want to spend $500+. Is there a good fixture that someone can recommend?
