i'd like to try it with just fish first.

what would i need for a sw tank? i already have a freshwater tank established but now i feel i wanna get into salt water. so i wanna find out how much equip would be for a 36g tank

i recently picked up a pair of angel fish. i can't tell if i have a male or a female. but if i have both i'll attempt to breed em.

i tested all 3 of my tanks and they all are sky high!! what should i do, i know its the tap water because i tested that and that just as high as any of the tanks.

Idk how my nitrates are getting so high. i did a test today and from yellow to red (red being the highest) it showed up as red. I've done 4 20% water changes in the past 5 days. my fish aren't really eating that much. is it because of my DIY co2 system or what? i can't figure it out.

i'll have my 36 gal soon! i'll be keeping my 10- gal as a fry tank after that but what else should i have to go with my 2 jewels and 2 dempsys?

yay i didnt know they laid more eggs but i loooked today and i have fry! and the momma jewel was sucking in the fry wandering off and spitting back with the others, its soo cute. my first fry!

she ate them sometime today while i was at school:( hopefully they will lay again!

yeah they are cichlids, would they lay eggs if a male wasn't present?

yay one laid eggs! how do i know if the other blue jewel is a male that will fertilize the eggs? i had to get a tank seperater because they killed my blue lobster and fire mouth :( how long do eggs take to hatch? i'm definatly new to breeding i could use some pointers and facts, thanks :)[/b]

my blue jewels have recently been changing colors drasticly from a whitish now to a red grey and black on their fins. is this normal? or are they under stress? thanks for the help. iain

i do the same thing and it works great i can even have my filter on mine. this idea is great for hospital tanks and cleaning your main tank.

Well everyone thanks for your help! the rocks i picked up were FILTHY! but i boiled them 3 times then did the fizz test, nothing fizzed as of now the fish are happy and enjoying their new hideouts and caves i made.

right now their sex is undetermined. the fliers (or dempsys i can't tell) are only about 1.5 inches. and the jewels are 2 inches, the jewels are changing colors with some red on their fins as well as some black. one is changing more than the other if that will help determine the sex. also they...

i live really close to a pretty decently sized river, and i was wondering if i could find pebbles and stuff to use instead of gravel and make a little cave for my fish or lobster which ever likes it. would it be okay?
