    Convicts and JD

The JD is only 3 1/2 - 4 inches... I'm trying to find him a new home, but I don't want to take him back to the LFS, because he won't be treated right, and will be put in bad conditions

    Convicts and JD

Hi all! I have a pair of convicts that are soon to breed, a Pleco, and a male jack Dempsey in my 29 gal. (Jack Dempsey will be rehomed soon). Ever since the convicts paired and are preparing to breed, the jack Dempsey has not come out of his cave except on a rare occasion, and that is at night...

    Help feeding my pleco

Cut up pieces of cucumber that are about 1/4 to 1/2 in in width... One a week and your Pleco will chow... I don't think that the barbs will do anything... My convicts sure wouldn't touch it. Hope that helps!

    Cloudy water

Hey guys... I have a pair of convicts, a Pleco, and a jack Dempsey that I am soon rehousing because he is becoming too big for the tank. Ever since I rescaped my tank, my water has never gotten completely clear. I really have no idea why, and could use a helping hint. Any advice is appreciated...

Do I really need to change 10% water weekly ?

Yes, water changes are the best thing you can do for your tank. Do at least 10% weekly, because it is healthy for your fish, and it keeps your nitrite and nitrate levels down naturally... Especially during the nitro cycle, 10% water changes every other day.

    Convict pairing

I have a pair of mature convicts that I received from a friend... He got other larger fish. The female is ready to bread, and the male is ready, but they haven't paired yet. Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? Or do I just let nature take it's course?

    Tank cycle

What do you mean by "proof"?
  20. Drew vest6

    Tank cycle

No because you haven't done anything to cycle it, whereas I did, and it cycled quickly.

    Tank cycle

My nitrates and ammonia are at zero, with nitrates at a healthy level.
  22. Drew vest6

    Tank cycle

I thought the same thing when I tested it... But the nitrate, ammo, and nitrite levels look good... Only thing that needs improvement is ph but I can raise that
  23. Drew vest6

    Tank cycle

Dosing ammonia is good for cycles... If you are having trouble, go to the LFS and get 5-8 zebra danios, and feed them once a day. They will produce ammonia naturally
  24. Drew vest6

    Tank cycle

That's actually kinda good... Do a water change, then wait a few days and test 2-3 days after change
