When I do my weekly water change I vaccuum at least an inch down so if there was something in the gravel I should have seen it. Tomorrow's my weekly water change so I'll pay closer attention to this.

Thanks, I'll look into other supplements. I do change the water 40% - 50% every week. This is the first fresh water tank since I was a teenager. Since then I've had salt water of and on over the years. Fish have been doing fine, but need to learn more about plants.
