    Rescape Experiment

Thanks! Yes you need to slowly open the regulator valve until the 2 clear diffuser canisters fill up and then close it. It took about 6 hours for it to diffuse into the water.

    Rescape Experiment

Day 2 Update: Before adding the co2 I tested the pH to see if the substrate alone has affected my pH values and IT DID! My well water usually runs 8.2 but after 1 day it is down to 7.2! Then I connected the new mini co2 kit. I know it’s not very advanced but I’m just looking to give a little...

    Rescape Experiment

I’ve taken over my daughters 13 gal tank that had a few plants, regular gravel and driftwood. Her platys slowly died off after about a year, so I’ve kept only her driftwood, plants and healthy filter media with the good bacteria. The pH was always high at 8.2 from our well water. So here is my...

Sorry for the late response and thanks for the added suggestions. No noticeable change to the BBA yet so I might do the hydrogen peroxide spot treatment tomorrow and WC. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

Help! Dealing with black beard algae!

Yes they are adjustable with full spectrum, preset combinations and you can save custom settings. I have been using full spectrum for the core hours and sometimes in the evenings we play with the other modes. Not confidant in customizing yet. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    New Loaches

This is the larger Angelicus. He's hard to photograph and loves a particular crevice in the driftwood. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    New Loaches

Botia Histronica = Golden Zebra Botia Kubotai = Angelicus I've found loaches.com to be a wealth of info. The Angelicus will develop silver spots within its darker bands. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    New Loaches

2nd Pic Couldn't get my phone to add two photos at once. Her is the Golden Zebra...they look so similar when juvenile, but he definitely has a more golden hue.

    New Loaches

We finally decided on some bottom feeders for our 60gal. I love the Botia loaches and so far we have found two Angelicus and one Golden Zebra. They are not easily found at our LFS in VA. I got a couple good pics today...1st is the smaller of the Angelicus. Looking for more to have at least five.

    Stocking suggestions please

Thanks! I have looked at youtube videos of the dwarf chain loaches and they seen to have tons of personality and don't get too big.

    Stocking suggestions please

Ok, so we cycled a 60gal recently and have been following the rule to add only a few fish at a time. Started out with 2 blue gouramis (1m & 1f) and 1 pearl gourami (female). Purchased 3 boesmani rainbows (1m, 2f) and 3 turquoise rainbows (1m, 2f) from LFS a week ago. They are all in the 2-3 inch...

    Stocking advice on 60g

Thanks! Yes, I've read mondo grass is not truly an aquatic plant and will eventually die. We are limited to only a few LFS within an hours drive and didn't see much else. I would prefer to get some cabomba or anacharis...at least something that grows tall.

    Stocking advice on 60g

Trying numerous configurations in the stocking calculator has lead to a bit of frustration and eventually to this post. We need suggestions on what to add next. We would like a good sized school or two and as peaceful a tank as possible. Currently stocked with 1 female Pearl Gourami and 2 Blue...

    New from VA

Hello, I have been reading many many posts on Aquarium Advice and have finally registered. (This site has been extremely helpful lately.) My husband and I have had some experience with freshwater fish in our teens/twenties but besides monitoring the pH, I never cycled a tank. I consider...
