    Need an Algae Eater

Hopefully somebody is online to answer this quickly. Are otocinclus fish that I need to buy a few of, or will one of them be okay by itself in my tank? Thanks!

    Need an Algae Eater

Nah, I wasn't even considering chemicals. So with the otocinclus, I'd want to get a vegetable clip as well then? So how does that work? For example, if I notice that the fish is eating the algae faster than it can grow, I'd want to clip in a piece of zuchinni and just leave it or something...

    Need an Algae Eater

Alright I probably don't NEED one, but I would like to have something to help clean the algae in the tank. I've currently got a planeted 20H with 3 yoyo loaches and 7 pristella tetra. Any suggestions on something to help keep algea under control? I'd almost prefer it to be non-fish if...

    Loaches Won't Eat

Thanks for the replies... I'll wait until tomorrow night and try dropping in a wafer after the lights go out, maybe. They should have plenty of places to hide. My plants are getting thicker and I have two caves. One's rock and the other is wood. They seem to like the wood cave better 'cause...

    Loaches Won't Eat

Okay, I've had the 3 yoyos for a week now and I'm having a bit of a trouble getting them to eat. I have Hikari sinking waferes that the LFS sold me, but they don't seem to be too interested in them. At first when I put 'em in the water, they're still kind of hard, but one of them doesn't seem...

    Loaches Won't Eat

Well it's not like the legs are bowed and strained. it's a 6 piece metal stand that I had to put together (4 legs, 2 platforms). Thus if you're doing something like applying pressure to the inside of the glass to wipe off algae, I have to be careful not to rock the tank and freak out the fish...

    Loaches Won't Eat

I went with 3 Yoyo loaches. I tried to acclimate them to the water's chemistry and temperature slowly... They were real hard to get out of the bag and into the tank... Very good hiders, these guys are. Anyway, I've got the lights off and I'm trying to keep movement in the room at a minimum...

    Loaches Won't Eat

Thank you AshleyNicole. That's kinda how I was thinking about doing it anyway. If they have some cheap, thin tubing at the fish store, I may try to do it that way, but it sounds like more trouble than it's worth when I can do it manually, so to speak. Now I just need to decide which species...

    Loaches Won't Eat

Also, could somebody comment on the behavior of the Kuhli's? Are they as active and playful as the Yoyos sound? Also, what are your opinions about the Angelicus? After seeing them, I think they are very neat-looking and would like to know more about people's experiences with them.

    Loaches Won't Eat

Ah okay. So just pour the new fish, water and all, into the bucket and start that way? And this acclimates them better than floating the bag and just pouring some of the tank water in every so often?

    Loaches Won't Eat

Could somebody explain drip acclimation to me or link me to a site? This is the first I've heard of it. I'd google it, but I never know who to trust when it comes to this fish stuff. Thanks!

    Loaches Won't Eat

I've got a planted 20H that is currently the home to 5 pristella tetras. I've had them for a month or so and them seem to be doing quite well. I now want to get a some loaches. I was thinking of getting 3 yoyo loaches, but I'd like to scope out if there are any other kind that I could...

    First Ever Aquarium: Round 2

Just an update. The Pristellas are still doing great. Sometimes they spread out around the tank and sometimes they all group together. I frequently see 4 of them together and the 5th off by itself. I'm looking into where and what kind of loaches I'm going to get next. I also think I'm...

    First Ever Aquarium: Round 2

Anybody have some insight? I've been feeding them twice a day, but never really to the point where they seem disinterested. All of the food definitely gets eaten, but it still seems like a lot...

    First Ever Aquarium: Round 2

Well my fish seem to be pretty happy. They stay in a loose school and are pretty active during the day. They get really excited when I walk over to the tank. I was taking a water sample and I dangled my finger in the water for a bit and one nibbled me :-p I have a question about feeding...

    Looking for Low-Light Glosso-Like Plant

Rock. Thanks guys, I'll look into it :0)

    First Ever Aquarium: Round 2

Yeah, it's unfortunate that I didn't realize just how sensitive they are until too late... I may try them again, I haven't decided yet. My next fish will be a few loaches of some kind. I was liking yoyos, but I will consider other kinds that stay small enough that I can have 3 or so.

    First Ever Aquarium: Round 2

Well round 2 begins. I've got the temperature back to normal, new carbon media and 5 pristella tetra. I was told that these guys are much hardier than the Rummies. They already seem happier. The Rummies were much more timid, in comparison. I'll update in a couple of days.

    Looking for Low-Light Glosso-Like Plant

I'm looking for a glosso-like plant that I can use in fairly low lighting. I have a "24'' Colormax Full-Spectrum & 6700K Plant Lamp" I currently have anacharis, java plant, anubias and an onion plant and they're all growing quite nicely. I am looking for something like glosso that stays short...

Water snail, Bob the water snail

Ya know, I may have to second that... I just treated my tank for ich too and I have noticably fewer snails. Not that I recommend doing that JUST to get rid of snails... An interesting sidenote though.

Meh, I know. I'm just annoyed that I cracked my lid. I appreciate the encouragement though.

    First Ever Aquarium: Round 2

And you can officially start to call me the worst fish keeper of all time now... Not only are all of my fish dead, but while changing my water today, I stepped on my lid and cracked it.

    First Ever Aquarium: Round 2

Well, I'm out of fish and I'm not happy about it... I guess now I'm going to do a big water change and heat the tank to 87 for a while. Out of curiosity, how hot does it have to give to kill the beneficial bacteria in my filter? Back to the drawing board on fish research, I guess... I...

    First Ever Aquarium: Round 2

Ah well I didn't necessarily want Danios earlier... It was either some sort of danio OR the tetras... Guess I made the wrong choice... I'm still annoyed that I did all of that research and work with fishless cycling only to kill 4 fish in 4 days... Stupid ich... Anyway, having said that...
